Alol of course loads of GB athletes start running super fast times AFTER the Olympic deadline. Some great performances from Loughborough:

David Omoregie 13.25 PB in the 110 hurdles, making him the 4th fastest British hurdler ever - isn't going to the Olympics

Richard Kilty 10.01 PB, Joel Fearon 10.04 PB and Harry Aikines-Aryteey 10.08 =PB in the 100m.

BigSister 16-07-2016 08:49 PM

Shame theres no british women or men in the javelin. Glad that Jo Pavey got in though looking forward to the athletics at the Olympics ^_^

Goldie Sayers has not been in very good form these past few years ever since her injury in 2012, so she wasn't selected sadly. And we haven't had any decent javelin throwers for ages now either.

Wow, GB's Imani Lanisquot just ran an 11.17 (+1.7m/s) PB in her 100m heat at the world juniors. That's just 3 hundredths off Dina Asher Smith's British Junior Record.

I'm screaming @ Blessing Okgabare being so passive aggressive to Nigerian reporters.

"The possibility of you getting the double is possible isn't it?"
"...I already won it. You just missed it "

"Some Nigerians are worried about your time..."
"Nigeria should worry about their government, not helping me and not my time"

Keni Harrison broke the WR today in London with a 12.20 :o

and idk how much we care about World Juniors (now called World U20 I guess) but great showing for American high schoolers so far. Noah Lyles and Candace Hill won the 100, Michael Norman won the 200, Sammy Watson and Aaliyah Miller went 1-2 in the 800, and Anna Cockrell won the 400H and is now tied for the second fastest high school time ever behind Sydney McLaughlin.

Keni Harrison

Such a shame she isn't going to Rio!

How many independent Athletes have been announced? Just seen Darya Klishina will be there since she escaped the whole Russian ban since she spends most her time training outside

Only Yuliya Stepanova (who may not even go since she looked heavily injured at the Euro Champs) and Darya Klishina (who I've no idea what sort of form she's in). Everyone else is banned.

Headie 01-08-2016 02:04 PM

I've updated the OP with the Rio timetable

Also GB's Joel Fearon ran 9.96 this weekend in the 100m for a UK lead and 3rd on the UK all time list. He isn't going to the Olympics though sadly. His focus is on Bobsleigh at the 2018 Winter Olympics.

Laura Muir with a meeting record and World leading time of 3.55.22

Jack_ 02-09-2016 04:10 PM

lol my brother made us all think we'd won tickets to the 100m final and the 5000m Saturday's in London next year, we spend 2 hours getting excited and talking about hotels and then it turns out he read the confirmation of application email, not one saying we were successful :idc: safe to say I'm not best pleased

On the plus side I was successful in getting 10,000m tickets on the opening Friday so swings and roundabouts I guess

Are you a subscribed member to British Athletics? They did early sales a few months ago for British Athletics fans who've bought tickets for events previously (e.g. Anniversary Games, British Championships etc.), I think the window has closed now though </3

And last night in Zurich she won the overall Diamond League for 1500m :clap1: So she's secured automatic selection for the World Champs next year (in London) which means we can send 4 British women in the 1500m (including Laura Muir) if we have 4 women with the qualifying time (we currently do but some of them are 5000m runners so probably won't double up)

Lets hope Eilidh can win the Diamond League in the 400m Hurdles later this week, it would be great to have two British diamond league winners in one year :clap1:

I'm subscribed to their emails yeah, and I signed up for email alerts about London 2017 pretty much as soon as the 2012 Olympics were over, but I don't think I've ever been offered an early bird sale unfortunately

There will be exclusive first-come-first-served sales for those who were unsuccessful in about two weeks though so I'll try again there, but whether 100m final tickets will still be available is doubtable

Yeah I think they only offered it early to people who had bought tickets for British Athletics events before rather than just people subscribed to their email account.

Apparently there's been over 1 million applications for tickets and there's only 700,000 tickets to give out  So I doubt there will be another general sale, or if there is then it'll sell out almost immediately. I'm not really sure how they're gonna allocate them tbh

Sounds fair enough really

Yeah a first come first served sale is gonna be even more manic so I shan't get my hopes up  I'm pleased but surprised it's been this well received, I haven't seen the ad on TV? I guess the Olympics must've given it a boost

I mean I can't be too annoyed cause I'm gonna see Mo, Bolt in the heats and Greg in the long jump qualification and maybe even Laura Muir in a 1500m heat? Plus the 'opening ceremony' which'll presumably be a bit crap but if they book a decent DJ I'll be happy. It's just wasting 2 hours of my afternoon getting excited for nothing that's taken the shine away :joker:

Headie 02-09-2016 05:05 PM

There's still a chance you could get those tickets you want though, right? If you've applied for them you've got just as much chance as everyone else

Jack_ 02-09-2016 05:09 PM

We didn't get the tickets in the application phase where it went to a ballot, but from what I understand those who were unsuccessful in the ballots (as my brother was for the two Saturday evenings) will be given an exclusive first-come-first-served sale for another load of tickets in about two weeks, before they put the remaining tickets on general sale later in the year

But trying to buy tickets at 11am in a mad rush with everyone else is a total lottery  but then again so was the ballot, so I suppose you're right

KJT is splitting from her coach:

http://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/co...hell-jjv58zh3n

Good tbh, she'll never medal on the global stage unless her throws improve and it didn't seem like Mike was doing anything to improve her throws at all.

Once her throws are sorted she can challenge for Gold :clap1:
