I don't even want to entertain the thought of an EU-less and Scotland-less UK.

I don't want Ed to resign but I fear what Jon Sopel talked about earlier how there'll be Blairites calling for another leader of his ilk and God forbid they send the Labour party back to the centre right when we've just had the first leader in many years who has taken it back as near to its socialist roots as possible

MTVN 08-05-2015 02:40 AM

Whole core of Lib Dems likely to be wiped out; Alexander gone, Davey gone, Hughes gone, Clegg and Cable possibly gone..

Lib Dems could be in need of a complete overhaul

bots 08-05-2015 02:41 AM

Jim Murphy is a genuine nice guy, he wasn't hated

Typical drive them
6 feet under then.

If Miliband has fought a more Blairite campaign he would have done better. Look at Labour's pledge card from 1997:

https://picturingpolitics.files.word...ledge-card.jpg

Clear practical promises laid out and how they will all be implemented

And then compare that this year with the Edstone:

The vaguest pledges you could ever make put forth on a ridiculous gimmick.

Miliband fought a better campaign than expected but not good enough

Kizzy 08-05-2015 02:46 AM

there's ages to go yet... :(

Ross. 08-05-2015 02:48 AM

I would be prepared to give Labour a chance of they get into power (which is unlikely tonight) but I don't have the faith in them that I used to have.

It's over

The only thing we can hope for is that the Tories fall slightly short of a majority but I can't even see that happening now

Brother Leon 08-05-2015 02:48 AM

Wow. Lib Dem lost Brent. A terrible night for them.

Ross. 08-05-2015 02:50 AM

The Lib Dems are going to have to completely rebuild themselves after tonight.

All the rural English seats will leave it to last minute to declare their obvious Tory victories unfortunately :p

I think my home constituency has swung from Lib Dem to the Tories :(

The massive loss in Scotland for Labour will affect them massively once the Tories catch up.

Nothing to celebrate really, even if you're a Tory you'd rather Scotland was dominated by Labour than the SNP considering that the Tories would never win more seats than one up there anyway

Only because these have been announced already, the safe seats from both parties will come in and then its over to the marginal ones, and as the night goes on, the target marginal tory seats labour need to win are not being won

smudgie 08-05-2015 02:59 AM

Another Lib Dem seat won.

Brother Leon 08-05-2015 02:59 AM

My boy' Lammy will make sure Labour remains in good ol' Tottenham tbh.
