So because this season was so amazing I'm doing big-ass writeups for my final ranking to generate some more discussion post-BB so without further a due:

Spoiler:

I don’t even know where to begin with Austin. I swear to God we haven’t had somebody who epitomizes the word loser on Big Brother as much as Austin does. I’m gonna just start with the only two positives I have on Austin at this point in time.

1. He came up with my favourite alliance name in “Sicko’s, weirdos, freaks, alternative lifestyle group” which is just too amazing of a throwback not to get some recognition.

2. He was so tragic that it was pretty entertaining to watch bad stuff happening to him over and over again. Watching him plead to Vanessa not to be backdoored is honestly a season highlight for me. Plus the temporary end of Liztin was kinda satisfying to watch (but not totally) and of course, the barefoot eviction, where apparently during the pre-recorded show he was begging for Vanessa to change her vote. These were three really satisfying moments in the season which almost made his long stay worthwhile, but it just wasn’t and here’s why.

Firstly, let’s start off with Judas. A huge problem with reality television is that you’re inevitably going to get contestants who will play up to the cameras for a bit of attention and the dumbest way of doing this is coming up with an alter-ego. If I was working in casting and someone came in telling me they would have an alter-ego named “Judas” I’d probably ask them if they were actually 10 years old and shoo them away. It’s just so dumb, corny and contrived and I’m so glad that the other houseguests ripped into him for it.

Now onto… ugh… Liztin. I literally cannot fathom what anyone could see in him. The long hair, the ponytail beard I mean sweet Judas why do that to yourself? But the fact they were so mismatched isn’t even the start of what was wrong with this showmance. Firstly the fact he had a girlfriend on the outside in the first place was flat out gross and judging by the letter he wrote her it sounds like he was messing her around in the first place. Then the fact he was so possessive of Liz not letting her hang out with… Jeff I think? And constantly being around her even though she wasn’t attracted to him I swear she got Stockholm Syndrome or something that’s the only explanation. I mean it’s not really a good sign for your relationship when your first kiss is a sneak attack. He kinda had misogynistic tendencies as well like when he kept saying he needs to protect her despite her being undeniably better at comps and her social game was pretty much protecting herself. Then calling her a bitch and throwing food at her because she said she doesn’t like his chicken. Oh yeah and during the temporary breakup he was trying to blame Liz for ruining his life.

But he didn’t stop sucking after he left the house, he continued to be a bitter little bitch in jury and saying how “flawed” Vanessas game is only to be schooled by Queen of Jury house Shelli Poole  I think he became in on the joke of how much of a loser he was in the finale which was good to see.

So to summarise Austin kinda had a good story arc but on the whole it just felt that he lasted too long and there was too many flaws in him to warrant him staying for so long. In all honesty he probably wouldn’t be in my bottom 20 houesguests of all time and I think that it’s a testament of how great this cast is.

Spoiler:

It’s always an instant boost to a season when somebody you know is going to be awful is taken out of the season ASAP (Amanda in BB4, Mike in BB5, Jacob in BB9, Braden in BB11, David in BB15) and Jace now joins that group.

So Jace was probably cast as Hayden 2.0 or David 3.0 or Braden 4.0 so from the get go we should’ve known he’d suck (actually Hayden is ok but you get the idea.) He kinda ran around the house like David and Braden in a socially unaware and obnoxious way and immediately had some sort of “brocode” segment with Austin where you’re watching him thinking “Dude, shut up.” It’s genuinely no wonder why he was out first when he’s annoying the **** out of everyone on like… the first night? He reminds me of that person you meet at a party who joins the conversation, starts talking about something nobody cares about and keeps talking about it while everyone walks away until he joins another conversation. Anyway, social unawareness isn’t something I generally dislike in a houseguest (many of my favourites in BBUS are socially unaware) but the way he does it is more irritating than entertaining.

Anyway, as if Jace wasn’t annoying enough, once he got nominated he just turned into this sore loser demon getting into arguments with Audrey and James who wouldn’t take any of his crap. Unnecessarily being a dick to Steve pretty much sealed his fate for me so I was more than happy to see his ass walk out the door.

His story arc is gloriously topped off by his picture on the memory wall being replaced by Julia’s, because nobody cares about Jace lol owned.

16. Jace
17. Austin

LJ doing legit write ups <33333 I'll comment more when I'm not at work but I love this already

Spoiler:

When the cast was released and we were thrown this Ian Terry 2.0 I decided to give him the benefit of the doubt. After all his work is in music and his favourite player was Danielle Reyes so I felt a connection to him already. He started out alright being very well mannered and calling out some misogyny (I can’t remember from who probably Jeff) but he was pretty irrelevant for the entirety of the pre-jury portion of the game.

BUT EVEN THEN Steve was showing immediate signs of being a hell-demon with his irrational hatred of Becky. I don’t know where it came from but it just wasn’t fun in any way. However, the true hell-demon emerged in Steve when he became HoH in the double eviction and decided to take a shot at ADC by eliminating Jackie who wasn’t even coming after him leaving us with yet another disappointing double eviction (Seriously have we had a good double eviction since BB13? It’s kinda depressing.) Also despite being well mannered etc he spent like a week making fun of James (who was hanging out with him out of sympathy) saying his penis was small because he's Asian which was really uncomfortable.

The awkward Steve talking to cameras or putting up an ironing board segments were really irritating because production were really trying to push him as a favourite but not even the casuals were eating that **** up :joker:

The fact he won does bother me a bit because he essentially played the same game as Ian: floating through the first half, joining the majority alliance and winning competitions in the last few weeks. It just sours the season as a whole for me and even Ian > Steve tbh.

So to summarise there’s always an annoyance in every series, someone who on a personal level you don’t really have strong feelings on but their game decisions or general demeanor are just irritating and drag the season down (See: Adam Poch). It’s unfortunate that it was Steve because it was so predictable that he would be that person. Do I think he’s a bad guy? No. Would I get on with him? Probably. Was he a good Big Brother houseguest? No.

It’s kinda hard to write about Jeff because I don’t really remember him doing anything. I remember people really hated him at the time but he’s just nothing more than a standard douchebro really. A lot of people seem to think that he was giving Liz attention that she didn’t want but… she seemed pretty fine with it and wanted to use it to her advantage as strategy so it wasn't really unwanted. But yeah he was totally all over the girls constantly, called Da’Vonne a bitch, Becky a gold digger, said he wanted to break down Steve emotionally (as if that’s difficult lol but still) he’s just a douche really. Not painful to watch just mildly unpleasant. His ridiculously awkward intro shot legit makes me laugh every time though… and that’s kinda all I have to say on him, I genuinely can’t remember him oops. Also he's a dick on twitter and said after the finale CBS hates him (yeah so much they put him on Big Brother).

14. Jeff
15. Steve
16. Jace
17. Austin

tyty I just think this is a great and generally very interesting cast so there's a lot to discuss. It's the most invested I've been in BBUS since BB13 so I've got a lot of thoughts on almost everyone and I'd love to hear other peoples take on the houseguests and the season as a whole.
