yeah i know LT :)

I Love Lucie

Braden 23-01-2017 11:16 AM

I think I actually like Danyl's song the best.

I can't remember if I was a fan of his during X Factor, but I remember his performances.

he was a dick

Crimson Dynamo 23-01-2017 11:43 AM

well i have listed to all 6 and none will ever win a Eurovision, in fact they are all the same - just kids singing generic songs, nothing unique, nothing exciting. So we can just right off another year. sigh

The 2 blokes are tragic

The best one is Salena, then Lucy then Olivia/holly

Braden 23-01-2017 11:49 AM

I agree, LT.

The first thing I thought was that this was just a generic bunch similar to last year. Why can we not get Verka Seduchka-level of craziness and pure Eurovision? :(

Just kids who failed at x factor singing tired generic lyrics they dont believe in. meh

Black Dagger 23-01-2017 12:34 PM

"Pure Eurovision" has changed, novelty acts are a rarity now, it's not a joke anymore, just the UK seems to think it is.

Salena if the performance isn't a mess is the one I'd like to see go. But I think Lucie would suit it if female ballads aren't scattered all over the shop because she'd stand out. But I do think it's hellishly dull.

Salena > Holly > Nate > Olivia > Lucie > Danyl

Salena > Holly > Nate > Olivia > Lucie > Danyl

It still exists in the fun that other countries provide though, whether they're novelty or not. We send boring dirge that is marketed for UK charts that doesn't even end up successful in that regard.

Nicky91 23-01-2017 12:39 PM

1. Lucie

2. Salena

3. Holly

4. Nate

5. Olivia

6. Danyl

Black Dagger 23-01-2017 12:40 PM

Oh no I get what you're saying, they have acts who have fun but they try to present them as credible these days, I think the last novelty act was probably Cake To Bake and then Latvia just decided it wasn't working anymore and sent two credible entries after it and it got them back to back finals after years of failing

Black Dagger 23-01-2017 12:41 PM

But I don't think any of the songs we've presented are terrible, I could happily send most of them and not feel embarrassed at what is being put on show, it was the same with Joe and Jake, I thought that was a good upbeat song that deserved better.

Black Dagger 23-01-2017 12:42 PM

Although in saying that it does look like Montenegro could just go out there with bat**** craziness again, Slavko is off his nut.

Yeah, and if the UK continues to not take it seriously, then they may as well risk it and send a really bizarre act that is at least meorable. We have nothing to lose since we make the final anyway.

I think it's worse when we send really basic songs that are obviously not going to do well or add anything of interest to contest :p

Crimson Dynamo 23-01-2017 12:50 PM

Its not novelty we need but something new and unusual, a new sound.

The seven years song last year was unusual, in sound and structure and would have won eurovision easily, for example

Rockabye had a good story, unusual synth sounds, a regge sub lyric and had a very catchy chorus - it was unusual and catchy and thats why it was huge

Wee lassies singing trite lyrics in a ballad format cannot win as its just wee lassies singing ballads.

All the songs would be lucky to get on the left column of the scoreboard in present form

Crimson Dynamo 23-01-2017 12:51 PM

I still cant wait

obvz

:joker:

Black Dagger 23-01-2017 12:53 PM

Rockabye is one of the worst songs of last year, don't you start with that nonsense PAL.

Crimson Dynamo 23-01-2017 12:57 PM

LIke Rag and Bone man

unusual artist unusual song

like Talking To You by Izzy Bizu

unusual vocal, memorable

Yeah, it would need to be something that is marketable and would do well in European charts - like the winner usually does (though I don't think 1944 did that well :p)

The UK is so far off from understanding that though.

Braden 23-01-2017 01:02 PM

I always thought Rather Be could have been a really good Eurovision entry :p

Tom4784 23-01-2017 01:02 PM

They're all rather dull and hackneyed. None of them will make an impact.

now that one one suggestion surely Black Dagger can get behind?

Denver 23-01-2017 01:27 PM

Songs can become great with a live performance

y.winter 23-01-2017 01:31 PM

It bugs me how the UK never fail to send boring and overall mediocre songs and singers, all while funding this competition as part of the big 5. The UK has so much talent, but none of it makes it through to this competition.
Why even bother?
