No non white winners ?

Yeah but those people were nice as pie nothing like Helen. Also i don't think anyone is actually calling the British public Racist, we're just addressing a stereotype that exists within the show.

But on twitter that's how its labelled and its actually quite annoying? I do get where you are coming from though I don't think she should have brought up the race card but her point wasn't wrong

MrWong 15-06-2017 10:11 AM

Did Rebecca label Kieran, Kayleigh, Tom or Chanelle aggressive?

She threw it out quick enough to label Hannah.

I'm not surpised at Hannah's reaction.

Yeah that's the point, it almost seemed like she was waiting to be able to do that, like how quick she was to say "Oh here we go" when Sukhvinder mentioned racism (in reply to Rebecca bringing it up I might add)

Charlotte wasn't - the thing is - the girl is boring that's why she will go - she has no personality.

It's a prime example. White people are allowed to talk about racism when they see fit but they have to dictate when it's suitable to talk about otherwise it's the minorities 'using the race card.'

This is definitely bull****, because I couldn't stand Nikki for example.

That's not even remotely the same thing.

People who want equality DO see colour because you have to see the differences to understand that there is problems. You can't say 'I want equality!' and then refuse to acknowledge barriers to said equality.

Like I've said before, 'I don't see colour' is not a cool progressive statement, it's regressive and it discourages valid discussion of race by painting it as wrong. People who believe and identity with statements like that are part of the problem, not the solution.

:clap1:
I would apply this across the board, not just in regards to race.

I understood your point Niamh.

I think whats conflicting things with forum members is talking about this specific incident in the house with the wider issue in society, or maybe i'm being overly generous, idk

 Indeed, the mix of HMs this year is pretty disappointing too tbh.

Summer is going fine, would be better if we actually got any sun over here though, hope yours is too

It can feel in some cultures that quite a few (not saying all) that think that raising your voice will get you somewhere with people. Some might say that you should accept that and put up with it, but it is really annoying.

Most blacks have learned to live without race issues and most whites shy away from these issues but there are allways the idiots in society that drag up colour, weight, in fact anything to gain an edge, thats life im afraid.

Good points in there

I am mixed race and it annoys me no end the way people use the race card so casually and thoughtlessly like that, simply for their own selfish petty arguments.

People do it just so they can try to shut down their opponent and 'win' the argument. It's a cheap shot and it is an insult to the victims of ACTUAL racism to mis-use the serious accusation of racism like that, just for their own personal gain in a row. Overusing 'racism' like that waters down the meaning of REAL racism.

For the record: Aggressive behaviour is not exclusive to any one race. Aggression not a race issue. ANYONE can be aggressive. I don't buy the 'black people are aggressive' stereotype. That's just dumb.

And without doubt Deborah WAS being very aggressive yesterday, shouting at Rebecca, then being really personal about her, trying to upset her about Kieron etc. She was being nasty.

Shame because I really loved Deb and Hannah before yesterday but they both came across as unreasonable, spiteful and yes AGGRESSIVE in last night's episode.

It's only ever people who are uncomfortable with issues of race being discussed that ever accuse anyone of 'playing the race card.'

It's a saying that's made to shut down discussions of race.

Ah well I'm having trouble with my agents so am having to find a new place to live :( but such is life.

In regards to the HM actually I had some admiration for BB this year as it seemed they made an attempt to find a range of housemates in regards of considering how they would get on with each other not just how they are as individual characters. But yeah personally none of them stand out for me tbh. I agree with a lot of the points you made in this thread, as someone who's mixed race its nice to see someone whos empathetic :hee:

the British population (mostly) think differently. its not just on big brother of course the same case can be found with other shows like the x factor to an extent although sara was the better singer matt won. though not everyone thinks that way of course a large majority sadly does
