the way UK deals with this virus

living in fear, panic, hysteria isn't healthy either

i appreciate how calm my dutch government remains, how there is no panic at RIVM here at all, my province brabant is in a slight lockdown, some schools are closed, most who cough, sneeze, have fevers MUST stay at home, and they also do, some where schools are open, some children aren't going, some teachers also aren't working

all for precaution, which is good

we got some dutch people living in northern italy, they had said their current full lockdown feels like jail, dutch reporters on site covering this news story had said everything feels quiet, with stores/bars/museums closed

so i definitely hope these precautions from my country, and certain other countries, and now Italy's (bit late) efforts also help at slowing down the spread of the virus

The stockpiling crisis that has hit supermarkets across Asia has spread to Europe as consumers start hoarding groceries and hygiene products amid fears of a coronavirus pandemic.

Grocery stores in Germany and the Netherlands -- where the local phrase for stockpiling is “hamster buying,” as it is akin to the pet rodents stuffing their cheeks with nuts -- face high demand for staples such as toilet paper. Supplies of hand sanitizer gels are rapidly selling out in France and Britain, and the French government is considering capping the price after some retailers were reported to be taking advantage of the demand.

or you wont have any loo roll

AnnieK 09-03-2020 10:14 AM

To be fair, the Government are.pretty calm about it, advising people not to panic buy but once it starts its hard not to join in.

this whole hysteria just needs to stop :skull:

thesheriff443 09-03-2020 10:46 AM

If someone has to self isolate imsure family friends emergency services will drop supplies off at peoples doors.

And if you are really bad you will be in hospital so again this bulk buying is a joke.

I don't trust the government though and I think a lot of people feel the same, last week they said they were in talks with the major supermarkets on how to get supplies to anyone who had to self isolate and could not get out, and that was a blatant lie
