...I think that’s quite simplifying, though...the problem is...(...and it’s what we’ve experienced here...)...is that there is an absence of contenders, as it were...which quite a bit, takes away that element of ‘voting for’ as in positive voting...rather than ‘vote Biden because he’s not Trump’../..negative voting...and we’ve struggled with a strong and popular Labour leader as well to contend with Conservative leadership...so we know how layered it is...

...I also think that if someone like Biden who is so not ideal either and nowhere near being...can even come close to the present President and it not be an existing office landslide etc...that just shows, whichever way I flip it......how absolutely rubbish Trump is and how much the US people are despaired atm...

Based on some of the random interviews I saw when watching last night, I agree. An awful lot of people aged around 28 - 40 clearly indicating that they dislike Trump as a person but vote Red for economic reasons. As soon as I saw a fairly articulate young adult basically say "I hate Trump but for financial reasons I can't vote Democrat" it put a massive question mark on the whole election, and that was quite early on.

Middle income professionals Nicky - there aren't enough "super rich" people to make a dent.

Well, lightning never strikes twice in the same place for no reason.
It surprised everyone in 2016. But if the americans elect Trump today, then it's for a reason and obviously they seem happy to have him as President despite whatever he did/does/says/said that looks tragic.

I cant see a Biden win scenario at this point, I'm calling it. She's ded.

Had Bernie been the candidate, I don’t think this would be as close as it is, he probably would’ve won :(

Stop with the ageist bull****. Trump is literally only 3 years younger.

Vanessa 04-11-2020 09:11 AM

Yeah, they're both in their 70s.

Trump acts like he's younger though, also ignoring the fact he's also in risk group for covid, not taken any precautions with distancing at his campaign rally's while Biden did

Yes about 4 or 5

He would not. If anything, they needed a square-jawed economy-focussed Purple Democrat who would openly denounce (what is seen as) heavy social justice activism. Sanders would have been fleeced in the states that are currently knife-edge.

Well that's a sign of stupidity and arrogance rather than youthfulness

He's not looking well right now tbh, neither of them are, a US presidential election race beats the **** out of people 20 years younger so...

Yes, but to be fair to trump, he has the virus.
So he won't be 100% yet.

Yes like a toddler.

Both are in their 70's and actually Biden is clearly in better physical health than Trump.

Nicky91 04-11-2020 09:23 AM

tbh Trump can mock Biden about his basement, but Biden thinks more of his health, and also is aware of the dangers of covid-19, so makes a better leader amid covidcrisis, i think so
