If you're still on a fixed tariff there's no need to submit a reading until the tariff ends (the time to do it would be the day before the tariff ends). The change in capped price doesn't affect you until your tariff ends (so you go to variable rate; i.e. the capped rate) or you switch to a new fixed tariff (there are currently none worth taking).

If they can let energy rise by this amount...they will do the same with food

Its a scandalous rise, on the plus side they will reach net zero quickly as no one will be turning on their heating or driving :skull:

Vanessa 01-04-2022 12:36 PM

I need to submit my readings. Will do it after work.

This is just the April rise - it's rising by another chunk in October.

bots 01-04-2022 12:58 PM

unless the market calms significantly, and thats unlikely, the price jump in october could be double the rise today. Next winter could be dire. I think i may get a wood burner in

Kizzy 01-04-2022 01:02 PM

I have a multifuel stove... the price for logs is ridiculous and coal is now outlawed :/

Yes they haven't said by how much yet have they? but likely to be similar, dont worry though you will get a 200.00 loan to offset it :skull:

I would do that sooner rather than later as prices will probably rocket

The October cap is already announced... it'll be that amount, no lower (and can't be higher). The real worry is when THAT cap expires, if the government doesn't announce a new cap or an extension of that cap. Because if it's uncapped... ... ... well all bets are off. I don't think that's a likely scenario as it would get to the point where energy is literally unaffordable for most households, which would make political intervention inevitable.

I mentioned in another thread, currently very jealous of my sister for still having an open fire (and contacts who can sell wood on the cheap).

bots 01-04-2022 01:59 PM

i have woods at the back of my house that go on for about a 10 min walk, so not even cutting anything down, there is a massive supply right there

Yeah my sister lives in the middle of nowhere, and also it's an island, so there's driftwood and stuff everywhere as well. But she also knows loggers, and the logging companies only haul off the nice big cut-to-length trunks, which leaves behind absolutely LOADS of "scrap" logs, and the loggers will collect them up and deliver for a small fee. Probably not supposed to technically but they're not going anywhere otherwise .

In fact, if you have any logging nearby I reckon you could just rock up on a day when they're not working or to an area they've stripped and moved on from, and fill your boots with abandonned logs.

Maybe those ‘preppers’ were right after all ...

They just weren’t sure what they were preparing for ..
