The way that I saw it is that he mad an ill judged joke on the assumption that JoJo would be thick skinned enough to take it and probably give it back as a bit of fun smack talking, but when JoJo crumbled he thought **** it and doubled down.

I actually do not think he is homophobic or transphobic at all.. He seems very liberal to me, in all honesty, but just '90s liberal' and not modern 'woke liberal'.

He just tried to joke like it was the 90s still and quickly found out that doesn't work on mainstream telly any more, especially among those that do understand the medium and the BB audience base..

He pushed boundaries enough that it would've gone over better in the US, regardless of time period. Freedom of Expression for most takes first place in social spaces here. Ill-judged or not, people give each other a little bit more grace to "be who they are" and so some people are really accustomed to being able to say whatever comes to mind and not immediately be brought up on it... where I think he might've created a problem is in announcing who he would or wouldn't evict... some might take that as a challenge

I've just watched it now and it was quite uncomfortable and quite deliberate. I think what made it worse is that he actually felt aggrieved at being called out on it and was patting himself on the back for not kicking off even though he was the only one at fault

Mostly I've liked Mickey from the first two eps and he should be a good housemate but it shouldn't be hard to accept he's in the wrong here

Even he admitted that and apologized.

Not sure how sincere that was. He seemed to apologise more because he thought it showed him as the bigger person rather than actually recognising he'd done anything wrong

He's stuck in his ways, and views now probably, most likely wont change at his age. But lets be fair, he wont even remember this "gig" by Christmas, just an easy payday for him.

True and the experience will probably only make him more likely to value his secluded life over this strange new world

He's definitely stuck in his ways, but at least he's making the effort. It's not easy at his age.
My late father was pretty much the same.

This. As all his fans have been saying, “he’s stuck in his ways”

The apology wasn’t genuine at all.

user104658 10-04-2025 06:34 PM

I don't think we'll be taking his age as an excuse for his "ways" when he was slapping/kicking his wife around and holding a gun to her head as a threat... 30 years ago, when he was in his early 40's.

"Allegedly".

I'm curious if he'll even remember her name after all this.

I thought he did it for her more than him since she was clearly still upset about it. I don't think he cared either way. That doesn't make it heartfelt... the way he did it was like when he gifted the blender to a total no name...

The only vague excuse I can think of that comes close to explaining it is that his brain has been rattled one too many times.

That is entirely feasible .. he even touched on that very point the other night

You are just like Mickey Glenn, completely stuck in your ways, you have absolutely no time whatsoever for people who challenge you with a differing opinion, even when perfectly reasonable. And when said person does test you, ask you a challenging question, you just reply with - :joker::joker::joker: Or call them a phobe or racist of some kind. Weak.

People are generally so open for discussion, but you hear something you don't like, you immediately resort to insults and mockery, and belittling. And of course, reminding us all of how grand and full of riches your life is. :smug:

You can’t say the apology wasn’t genuine - we do know that he was reprimanded and warned by BB , then immediately held to task by JoJo as he came out of the diary room … he then went outside alone and came back in later to apologise ..

That suggests that the apology was indeed heartfelt .

When have I ever called a phobe? For the most part you’re actually an alright poster. We both know that the answers in your post would be polar opposites from certain members.

Tbf it's still too early to say how everyone else is going to be in terms of contribution to the series.

We're only going to watch the fourth highlight show tonight.
