Grace's role is a "returning role" so I BETTER see ha get a whole ep dedicated to ha resurrection, or a few cute flashbacks per ep

I loved the way the end credits and music were like 60s Who, and omg Lee Mack's gonna guest star! :D

I just realised the title of the episode doesn't just refer to the Doctor :worry:

plot twist: Grace is the doctor from the future
|
we stan our jodie
|
Enjoyed that a lot actually.
|
So good!
It all felt so nice and fresh, no constant callbacks, Jodie was brilliant and I like all the new companions (Grace :(). I didn't even notice there was no opening titles until it was over. Also as much as I loved Murray Gold's themes, its nice to have fresh music too. |
I'm hoping the quality of the dialogue improves though, because compared to RTD and Moffat (as... well, Moffatty as Moffat's writing was) you can tell it isn't Chibnall's strongest area

I do hope she mellows a little bit. Found it a bit much at times.
Great 1st episode. It looked gorgeous too Fuming we didnt see the Tardis though!! |
Barrie have released a 13th Doctor Barbie. Does this not literally go against everything having a female doctor stood for :skull::laugh:
|
I don’t care I’m getting one for my niece
|
Just watched and it was pretty underwhelming I think Jodie is pretty great it was the cheesy script I'm hesitant. Didn't like the storyline at all I thought it was naff

That's so unexpected I... |
She was definitely at her best in the opening sequence and the ending sequence.
If she is more of that in her persona she's gonna be great. Less of the scatter brain. Kinda glad we won't have much of Grace, I like the actress but her "eh bah gum" Northern accent was grating and not natural, as is Ryan. Why they couldn't just be southerner's living in Sheffield. |
i quite enjoyed the first episode, quite a funny female doctor we now have
''why are you calling me madame, cause you are a woman i am a woman :o ''' :laugh2: |
I think the scattered personality traits were down to her regeneration, we saw the same with pretty much each regeneration since DT.
Really think she's going to do this show justice, it was a great introduction. |
Ratings for the first episode are in..
The Woman Who Fell To Earth pulled in a massive 8.2 Million viewers (40.1% share). Compare this with Capaldi's first episode in overnights. Deep Breath got 6.8 Million. Already a fantastic start and will easily add another 1.5 Million in official figures. I'm guessing we're looking at around 10 million officially. Also, this is the highest rating premiere episode since 2008, see below. Spoiler: |
Incredible :clap1:
|
I much prefer the show being on Sunday too
|
That's outstanding
|
She did THAT!
|
The draw of a female Doctor obviously played a big part, but hopefully JW's performance will keep them all!
|
It was a good start, it's difficult to judge Jodie just yet since regeneration episodes rarely do the new doctors justice but I think she'll be a very strong doctor. The supporting cast seems great too.
I'm not surprised it's done well in the ratings, a sunday slot allows more consistency than the series has had in years, less competition too. |
I quite enjoyed it. I didn't think the premise of the story was great - just a monster going about killing people. I hope that gets better.
I'll keep watching - I usually watch one episode when there is a new Doctor Who, and give up. And I'm wondering how they get out of being stranded in space. |
The writing wasn't quite on point and tbh I didn't like any of the companions :worry:... But I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt and think it'll work.
I get what people are saying about the portrayal of the doctor but I remember thinking the exact same about Smith and his fish fingers and custard, and he grew into my favourite doctor by the end so . |
Changed my mind about the theme.
Too repetitive. It's like monotonous? I know we're too used to Murray Gold's orchestral stuff but, still. Or maybe it was because it was extended over that long guest star reel at the end. (Speaking of which, get those viewers with Julie Hesmondalgh and Shobna Gulati!!) I actually preferred the little part we heard of it when Jodie first crashed through the train. That sounded cool. |

His phony accent just... no, I can't take to it. Should've just kept their southern accents and said they moved to Sheffield. |

I think this episode was just the usual post regeneration episode, The Doctor isn't quite done cooking and doesn't really show up until the last five minutes. |

cba to rewatch or google but wasn't Tess from Casualty in there too? |
Janice Garvey from Benidorm too!

FINALLY watched it.
Omg :flutter: I loved it. Saw some people saying the monster was a bit naff but I thought the premise of stealing people’s teeth was really creepy. I LOVE that we know nothing about next week or pretty much any of it. PERCHED. |
