also check you petrol station shops as they have cereals and other things that are out in the main supermarkets

Good idea Cherie. I'd never think of panic buying petrol but it may happen.

...panic buying breeds panic buying breeds shortages breeds panic by its nature so it’s always a difficult thing...Mr Ammi was talking to some supermarket staff last week and they said that every day seemed to bring a different ‘panic’...it would be really interesting to understand the brain/thought links as to what ‘panic’ links to the next etc...hand washing products, does that link to going to the loo in many thought processes...oh loo roll, then...etc...

...I filled up with petrol last week, I’m always quite OCD about having a full tank...(...to me, half a tank is at crises point...)...just because I’d be very restricted to get anywhere or do anything without my car...

Just off to a medium sized Tesco I will report back with my findings

Crimson Dynamo 15-03-2020 09:13 AM

Yes the TL has been up since 7doing an inventory of meds and food. We are good for a month at least so far. Doing our big shop am rather than tonight

thesheriff443 15-03-2020 09:49 AM

I’m absolutely discusted with the human race, wish this virus would kill off those greedy selfish bastards.

Some items were being limited to one pack of toilet roll per shopper so couple going round with two separate trolleys.

Absolute scum

I had a very disappointing trip to Morrison's in Diss yesterday. The checkout lady told me that people were queueing for a couple of hundred metres before the shop opened that morning. There was no toilet roll, no canned veg, no baked beans, no pasta.... an old lady said to me it looks like Soviet Russia in here.

I know, I'm just looking at it in disbelief :bored:

Crimson Dynamo 15-03-2020 12:29 PM

I managed to get a stock of coaltar soap and i have instigated a washing station in my boot. 1 bar of soap and 2 litres of water and one roll kitchen roll i can do a proper wash outside (yes its not hot water but next best) and put kitchen roll in a carrier bag for disposal. Everytime i am out and return to the car i do the wash ritual. I also have some coconut hand cream as my hands are getting bloody dry.

smudgie 15-03-2020 12:44 PM

So, Ocado taking no new customers.
Regulars are in a virtual queue.
Iceland have stopped selling certain items online now, in store only.

GoldHeart 15-03-2020 12:48 PM

Also online the hand sanitisers are mostly out if stock, the ones that ARE available will take 5 weeks to arrive .

Nicky91 15-03-2020 12:59 PM

Some people are going bat**** insane imo.

There is no need to clear out an entire Supermarket, we all just need to buy just a little bit extra than we normally would just in case there is a lockdown. It's not the Apocalypse like some of these hoarders are treating it as.

Denver 16-03-2020 06:39 AM

Only selfish spiteful people do **** like this

AnnieK 16-03-2020 06:43 AM

I'm off to do my weekly shop after school run....hoping the shelves have been replenished after the weekends madness.

Strictly Jake 16-03-2020 08:26 AM

Finally managed to get some baby milk formula from sainsburys yesterday. Bought two just in case as every other shop was running out! (Either a lot of parents were thinking the same as us about being prepared for lockdown or people were being stupid and buying it as long life milk had gone?) So that will last thankfully

But I still cant get pasta anywhere, I usually get pasta as part of my usual shop but nowhere has it its crazy! So I think I will have to learn to make it

It's delicious and relatively easy but you need eggs, which are also AWOL in a lot of supermarkets.

Vanessa 16-03-2020 08:39 AM

I found pasta in Lidl, but no toilet roll :fist: Will try the 99 p shop or Pundland.

There's lockdown in Italy, but the supermarkets are always open. As they're essential. But there's a queue.

yeah I wondered about that, as obviously its the only shop apart from the pharmacy they can go to and unless people stagger their going out times, there will be a queue

They only allow three people at the time.

Denver 16-03-2020 09:26 AM

They need the army to man the supermarkets that way they can stop people over buying and stop them sending their family and freinds in after

Denver 16-03-2020 09:28 AM

I dont understand why people need 100 rolls of toilet paper a house when the side effects has nothing to do with needing toilet paper

Toilet rolls can be so much cheaper than tissues, and the is a lot of coughing and spluttering ahead.

Liam- 16-03-2020 09:37 AM

I think it’s also a case of if we are completely **** down and forced to stay inside, imagine running out of toilet paper a week into a 2 month forced quarantine
