Birmingham City Boss Alex McLeish Offers Sympathy To Arsene Wenger
The Blues boss thinks that what happened to the Frenchman at Old Trafford yesterday was out of order...

Birmingham City manager Alex McLeish has echoed the views of many of his colleagues in the game, and condemned the treatment to which Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was subjected to at the end of his side's defeat at Manchester United yesterday.

Wenger kicked a water bottle in frustration at an offside decision at the end of the game which denied his team a late equaliser, and for that show of petulance was sent to the stands by the referee and the fourth official.

This led to a somewhat ridiculous situation in which Wenger did not appear to have anywhere to go, and ended up standing awkwardly in front of an excited section of the home support, who were enthusiastically mocking him.

"What he was subjected to there was absolutely ridiculous," McLeish told Sky Sports. "No manager should be subjected to that treatment.

"He's going into a baying crowd as well and they're taunting him.

"It's so difficult to keep your emotions in check at the best of times in football. Kicking a bottle of water is trivial. It's just trivial in the grand scheme of things. It's emotions."

Wenger will return to Manchester soon, immediately after the international break, when his Gunners travel to Eastlands to face United's rivals Manchester City.

King Gizzard 31-08-2009 12:47 AM

Ben do you think the gooners will make anymore signings? I'm thinking not

King Gizzard 31-08-2009 12:50 AM

I can't see many clubs doing business if im honest, well, certainly not the top 4 + man city

villa will deffinetly

30stone 31-08-2009 12:50 AM

Yeah.

Arsene is always 1 for running deals long just so he can push people to the price he wants..

I reckon we will make 1 signing not sure who.

What about Villa?

andyman 31-08-2009 12:50 AM

Where the fk is our new signing? Midfielder.. Italian i think.

12 September next Prem games?

King Gizzard 31-08-2009 12:52 AM

Villa - richard dunne, should be finally completed tommorow

James Collins - welsh ginger west ham player will probably come in as back up

SCREAMING for a creative midfielder...VDV...I can dream. He has to go somewhere and he dying to come to PL

andyman 31-08-2009 12:55 AM

Man Utd need 2 more big players.. Next transfer window maybe.

Next summer would be silly to buy players that are in the world Cup.. Many play ok and become overpriced!

I remember Owen's price tag shooting up after France 98, plus plenty after Japan/Korea 2002.

30stone 31-08-2009 12:56 AM

[rquote=2504697&tid=133229&author=andyman]Where the fk is our new signing? Midfielder.. Italian i think.

Aquillani.

He signed for you with an injury of 4 - 8 weeks.

And Nathan.

I have hope with wenger to sign VDV or Chamakh next 2 days..

Locke. 31-08-2009 12:59 AM

I think we'll be getting rid of Voronin and bringing a new striker in with the money before the window closes.... maybe wishful thinking

andyman 31-08-2009 01:03 AM

Yeah that's the player, Aquillani... Best sickie he ever pulled!

If Liverpool was put on the market it would get plenty of super rich wanting to throw millions at the club!

They want to buy Liverpool not clubs like Man City and Portsmouth.. Plus Liverpool is know worldwide and much loved!

FFS! Dam them two yanks.

andyman 31-08-2009 01:04 AM
