Seen it just then but you can't really see much

Johann 31-08-2009 03:53 AM

Yea you just see a bunch of players going into a tackle. Not really a clear view. They have a picture though of his leg completely twisted.

Peter Schmeichel said he was throwing up on the pitch after he saw it.

Tottenham are launching a bid for Portsmouth pair David James and Niko Kranjcar.

The Daily Mail says Tottenham reacted to the loss of Luka Modric by launching a joint £8million bid for Portsmouth midfielder Kranjcar and goalkeeper James on Sunday night.

Harry Redknapp is desperate not to lose momentum after a sparkling start of four Barclays Premier League wins. But Modric faces at least six weeks out with a fractured fibula in his right leg following a tackle by Birmingham's Lee Bowyer.

Spurs will have their usual hectic run-down to the closing of the transfer window on Tuesday at 5pm.

Tottenham boss Harry Redknap is back in for Real Madrid midfielder Rafael van der Vaart.

The Daily Mail says Luke Modric faces at least six weeks out with a fractured fibula in his right leg following a tackle by Birmingham's Lee Bowyer.

And that has seen Redknapp revive their bid for Real's unwanted Dutchman Van der Vaart.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has launched a scathing attack on one Manchester United player after defeat on Saturday.

"I have seen today a player who plays on the pitch only to make fouls," he said.

"For me, this is a point that is more urgent than diving. The players who are never punished. Who get out of the game without a yellow card. I think it is more anti-football than a player who did what Eduardo did."

Wenger smiled when asked if he was referring to Darren Fletcher.

"Why do you say the name?" he said, refusing to elaborate further.

But he was incensed that his players collected six bookings to United's three and, while the champions were awarded a penalty in their 2-1 victory, his side had their claims ignored when Fletcher brought down Andrey Arshavin in the box.

"I don't know why it is," he said. "You should ask the referees. Look at how many deliberate fouls some players get away with. That's a bigger problem because it cuts the flow of the game. And people pay to see football, not free-kicks."

Real Madrid are launching a last minute bid for Bayern Munich star Franck Ribery.

With Arjen Robben now a Bayern player, Marca says Real president Florentino Perez is hoping the German giants will now give a little in their stand over Ribery's situation.

Real are willing to offer £50 million cash to sign Ribery before the market shuts in the next 48 hours.

-----------

I really hope the Bayern directors call Perez up and tell him to FCUK OFF.

Former Chelsea striker Andriy Shevchenko is pleased to be returning to Dynamo Kiev.

"I think it is a good decision for me to go back to Ukraine, my home country where I started my career and to finish there," he told chelseafc.com.

"I always tried my best for Chelsea and it is only my decision to leave because I want to play regularly in games. I thank the club and Roman Abramovich very much, and everybody who has worked at the club and the players, I have many good friends here and a very good relationship with them and Carlo Ancelotti.

"I have big respect for him, he is not like a manager but a friend and he understands my decision, it is best for me.

"I feel when I played for Chelsea I received big support from the fans. I will remember for all my life this club and I hope I can come to the stadium and say "goodbye" to the fans, I want to send a message to thank them for their support and to enjoy their football and watching their team, I send my best thoughts for the team and hope that Chelsea wins many titles."

Wtf happened to this guy? Once one of Europe's most feared strikers is now a just a striker. Shouldn't have left Milan; he had his best years there and moving to play English football at the age of 30 was a bad move for him.

LA Galaxy midfielder David Beckham was delighted to have scored the winner over Chivas USA at The Home Depot Center on Saturday night.

Recently, Beckham’s relationship with the Galaxy fans has been somewhat strained but after netting the only goal to give his side three important points, some pressure has been lifted.

"It always helps, of course, you know," Beckham said. "It's always nice to score a goal. It's always nice to win a game, especially when it's against your rivals. It was a big game for us, because we wanted to keep our momentum up in the playoff spot. We needed three points, and we're happy."

The race for the 2009/10 A-League Golden Boot heated up on the weekend with tearaway leader Shane Smeltz unable to add to his tally.

Sydney FC veteran John Aloisi moved to equal-second after his header against Wellington Phoenix whilst Melbourne Victory’s Archie Thompson and North Queensland Fury’s Robbie Fowler both netted to move to two goals.

Perth Glory’s Serbian import Branko Jelic opened up his account with a double against Melbourne Victory, as did Adelaide United’s Lucas Pantelis who performed brilliantly in Travis Dodd’s absence.

Everton want £3 million for James Vaughan as Newcastle United come in for him.

The People says news of the Toon's interest has put Stoke City, Hull and Bolton on red alert - and they could all come up with late offers.

Vaughan is growing restless with his lack of action at Goodison and may quit the club where he is in the history books as the club's youngest goalscorer.

Moyes would let Vaughan, 21, go for the right price because he now has Yakubu returning from injury - as well as having Louis Saha and Jo also on his books.

Rangers winger DaMarcus Beasley could be on the move today.

The Scottish Sun says Beasley could yet become the 12th player to go if he can find a new club in the next 24 hours.

Speculation of interest from Germany, Spain and France has yet to be followed through with a bid.

Schalke tried to land the USA winger on loan in January and Gers would be willing to discuss a deal to allow Beasley to leave.

The player, who has dropped down the pecking order in the last year, is also keen to go in order to get regular action in a World Cup Finals year.

But there has been no movement for the former PSV Eindhoven ace and he looks likely to stay.

Inter Milan midfielder Patrick Vieira has not ruled out the possibility of playing in the USA.

The France international and former Arsenal star admitted that once his playing days in Europe are over, he would like to experience playing in America.

"I still have a one year contract and European level will certainly be the last - he said - the last season at high levels,” Vieira said.

“I'd love to do a little experience in the United States. Youri (Djorkaeff) convinced me.”

Vieira was linked with a return to Arsenal during the European off season but so far nothing has eventuated and his next move may well be Major League Soccer.

Tottenham have made an approach to Manchester City for winger Martin Petrov.

The Daily Mail says Spurs boss Harry Redknapp moved for Petrov after learning of Luka Modric's broken leg yesterday.

The Bulgaria international did not feature in City's win at Portsmouth yesterday.

Portsmouth hope to close a deal for Manchester City defender Tal Ben Haim.

The Daily Mail says Blues boss Paul Hart has money to spend following Sulaiman Al Fahim’s takeover and Ben Haim is on his list of targets.

The Israel international knows he has no future at City under manager Mark Hughes.

Arsenal have the inside-running for 15-year-old Serbian starlet Veljko Batrovic.

The FK Bubamara teenager impressed the Arsenal boss during trials.

He has also attracted substantial bids from AC Milan, Marseilles, Atletico Madrid and Olympiakos but all were rejected.

Arsenal have jumped ahead of others because Wenger, Batrovic and newly-appointed Emirates scout Christian Karembeu all share the same agent, Milan Calasan.

Calasan said: "One thing is certain whether the player goes with Wenger or not, he will become a great player."
