Yeah I'm still slightly hopeful I guess because it was a lot more obvious that Ginger wasn't going to win because the fans were so adamant that she was an Evil Bitch From Hell or whatever (when in reality she was clocking Pearl and Violet for what they are: childish and boring respectively - Pearl being both). Whereas Bob is still super popular and hasn't got many haters.

Someone pointed out that most finals have had the fans slightly favouring one queen ahead of the actual winner: Alaska vs. Jinkx, Adore vs. Bianca, Pearl vs. Violet. Maybe even Chad vs. Sharon. So hopefully it sticks with that trend.

(for the record I'm fine with Violet's win but it's kinda embarrassing when you see the roster of winners and then come to her name... I mean fair enough you forget that Tyra ever happened in the first place but still. Roster should be: Bebe, Raven, Raja, Sharon, Chad, Alaska, Bianca, Katya & Bob. With Adore taking AS2. :hee:)

The thing that most people were annoyed with at the thought Ginger winning last year was that it would have been clear that she was only chosen to be the first 'big queen' winner when they let the best big queen (Latrice) slip through their fingers twice! Plus Ginger didn't really stand out in her season because it was a season designed for people like Violet and Pearl to thrive in, arguably Violet did the best with what she was given. If Ginger and Katya had been on this season I reckon they would have easily made Top 4.

idk I don't think it should be about having a "first" of any style of queen win just for the novelty, and Latrice rightly lost both of her seasons for some ****ty fashion choices and just much better winners/finalists (we'll pretend Shannel didn't make the final of all-stars).

Season 7 obviously had no stand-out challenges so it's hard to argue a case for anyone of them winning really, but Ginger did win as much as Violet without any of them being design challenges/being paired up with Katya. I can see why fans say the producers tried to edit her as a winner early on but you'd think if they wanted her to win they'd just edit out the continual "VIOLET NEEDS TO GROW" rants :laugh:
plus I honestly think the lipsync with Sasha is the funniest in Drag Race herstory so that should've tipped it back in her favour

I think it's fair to argue that Ginger did stand out last season. She won the most challenges out of anyone, but the only thing that brought her down was that the public didn't like her because she was associated with the "bitter/old queen clique" which was definitely unfair on production's side of things.

I'm not even a fan of Ginger, but she probably excelled the most out of anyone. Violet was great in some challenges and had the best aesthetic out of anyone so I suppose it was fair that she won, but Pearl was an absolute fail and her only wins were lead by Max and Trixie...God I hate her so much :p

Last season was not designed for Violet and Pearl both were very look/design queens and it was a very performanced based season

Was it really? There was the Kitty ball, the half-man-half-woman dancing (which yes had dancing but was mostly judged on their look tbh), the week 1 seasons runway, the conjoined queens challenge and then the music video... that's 5 challenges that're mostly look based / "let's send Kennedy home because I think the fans won't use".

I mean fair enough there were slightly more performance-based ones but that's true of every season (bar maybe season 3 which was basically a sweatshop with, quelle surprise, the two Asians coming out on top).

Most of the main challenges were performance based (I had to use wiki for some but I think I remembered over half :p) some queens would have flourished in this season that flopped in S7 cause they weren't performing queens

I know this is probably not true and just my ill-feelings towards Season 7, but I feel like most people flopped last season :joker:

It's helped that most queens were aesthetic/lip sync queens and kinda lacked in personality. I'm glad to see the trance the Pearl stans were in last year is fading and people are becoming alert to the fact that she was talentless and seemed ungrateful to be there (justice 4 MKD!)

Katya had moments where she failed at challenges but she ****ing wins at life. She's probably my favourite queen of all-time with all of her post-show stuff.

MKD was slept on because Production/Ru/whoever knew that she wouldn't appeal to the mass Drag Race audience. It's a shame tbh, but I loved watching her randomly appear on Good Morning Britain and giving one of the presenters a makeover :joker:

I feel like they edited MKD so negatively to appeal to the Reddit audience which obsessed over Violet/Pearl/Max etc (this was more obvious this year with Thorgy but this was probably a desperate attempt to magic up a feud once Acid left)

It's so annoying, especially since S7 felt like the beginning of this awful bandwagon where the prettiest queens are automatically fawned over, even when the show airs and they have no talent but are still defended regardless.

the ONE thing I will say in Pearl's favour is that I did think she won that lipsync against Trixie that everyone ratted on. It's just a shame that's literally her only dance move and she got to survive with it once more bc Miss Fame didn't think "let's maybe have a tearaway under this massive dress" :shrug:
