New covering of snow for the valley this morning and a warning just out now for Central Scotland for 5cm overnight and 5-10 above 250m and 15cm above 350m

Issued: 10:22 (UTC) on Mon 27 Jan 2020

An area of sleet and snow is likely to move eastwards overnight, followed by a few wintry showers. Surfaces then freezing, leading to icy stretches. There is a small chance that up to 5 cm of snow could fall down to sea level. Snow over high ground is much more likely, with 5-10 cm above 250 m and as much as 15 cm above 350 m.

couple of inches of fresh new snow to wake up to, it has also frozen so was v difficult to get off the car and roads are slippy as more cars compact it down to ice

A few years ago ... one morning after we’d had a light skittering of snow overnight - this woman walked into the staff room really miffed and said

“ I’m so disappointed , I was expecting 6” this morning !”

People were collapsing around us ..
