Four years ago I had a tutor who was really brilliant at his job and I filled out a feedback form saying he was the best tutor I'd ever had and he'd really made me passionate about an area of studies that I'd never been interested in before. Fast forward to now and I'm writing my dissertation about that topic and he's been made a full time lecturer at the university. I like to think my feedback form is part of the reason why he was employed as a lecturer, I've never written so much on a uni feedback form before in my life, all of it positive. I'm including him in my acknowledgments for my dissertation even though he's not been part of the advising process.

I'm wearing a pair of size 34 jeans, can't believe they ever fit me, having to wear them with a belt because without one they just fall right down to my ankles LOL. So pleased with my weight loss over the last 8 months :D

Vanessa 03-03-2014 03:19 PM

I'm trying to lose weight as well. Eating out has made me put on weight. :fist:

I still have a long way to go but I'm so much happier with the way I look now, it's making it all so much easier to keep going. The better you look, the better you feel, generally. I'm going to start going to the gym once the semester is over and I've finished all my course work.

Vanessa 03-03-2014 03:32 PM

I've lost a little bit already. I'm cutting all sweets and take aways out.

I couldn't agree more, it really does help raise your confidence levels. When rummaging through my documents I found a picture of a load of us at prom, I felt sick  and I need to join the gym again, there's only so much dieting can do for you afterall :)

Vanessa 03-03-2014 03:35 PM

My holiday is amost over, but i'm going to Wembley Arena on saturday. :amazed:

I've not bought bread, butter or cheese since August. I'll have the odd sandwich now and then from a supermarket but I think that was really the main source of my weight gain. I've just been eating a lot of veg, cutting out the crap, getting a half hour of exercise (usually walking; was tennis in the summer) every day and not snacking. It's been gradual but I think I've lost about 2 stone now. I've still got a bit of a chubby face though which is annoying me, I'll only really be going to the gym to get on the treadmill to shift the weight from my cheeks, once that's gone I'll be pretty happy!

I'll just try to eat healthy and go for a walk on my days off. I hate going to the gym. .

I'm very aware of the fact that if I don't get my ass in gear now, it'll be a lot more difficult to do it from July onwards when I'm working full time. When I move back home I'm going to have to insist on making my own meals; my mum is notorious for making lots of food and insisting that all the boys eat everything and barely touching it herself, I don't want to say she's the reason I'm fat because that's down to me but it makes it so much more difficult to keep the weight off when your own mother's insisting you eat or food'll go to waste.

Kate! 03-03-2014 03:39 PM

I'm starting the gym next week, determined to get more healthy. My fitness levels aren't as good as they used to be although they're reasonable as I walk a lot and take stairs rather than escalators (I'm afraid of escalators)

Also I'm on day 3 of my no alcohol pledge, I'm going to try and continue to stay off it for Lent.

Jake. 03-03-2014 03:42 PM

I wish the puppy fat from my cheeks would disappear but i realise I'll have to work for that

I always thought gym memberships should be free for everyone, but once you sign up you'd have to sign 12 month contracts. You'd then be charged for the days that you don't go instead of a fixed fee.

Kate! 03-03-2014 03:48 PM

Lmao Ness, you crack me up, you quote me and then say something completely unrelated :D
