HULK HOGAN will make his return to wrestling for TNA live on Monday January 4.

TNA President Dixie Carter made the announcement last night, adding that the three-hour Impact show would go head-to-head against WWE Raw.

Dixie Tweeted: "Hogan to debut Jan 4 in a live 3 hr iMPACT! special up against Raw.

"How's that for a 1st shot? Spread the word."

Usually broadcast on Thursday nights in the States on Spike TV, this change is a one-off to herald the capture of WWE legend Hogan.

However many in TNA hope that, if successful, a move to earlier in the week could be permanent and herald the return of the WWE v WCW Monday Night Wars that took wrestling to new heights and record TV ratings.

Many of the players on the WCW side — including Hogan, Eric Bischoff and Kevin Nash — now work for TNA.

The company's world champion AJ Styles recently said of a permanent move to Mondays: "Absolutely. One day it will happen, there's no doubt about it. I know we can run with them."

And Dixie said in an interview on this week's Impact: "We are in to win it, not be satisfied with being the second largest wrestling company in the world.

"With the addition of Hulk Hogan we're not trying to recreate history, we're trying to make history.

"History for TNA, history for our fans, for our talent, for all those who have stuck with us for seven years and for those who are just discovering us today.

"We're going to see this thing all the way through and in the coming days you will see exactly how serious we are."

It's thought WWE will counter-programme with a three-hour episode of Raw featuring other legends from the past.

Impact is shown in the UK on Saturdays at 9pm on Bravo.

He'll never be back now, sadly. :bawling:

I went fecking nuts at WM25 when he came out, one of the best parts of the whole night it's sad to say lol.

He's said his goodbyes to pro wrestling now.

The Rock is set to be guest host of Raw though sometime in either Jan or Feb 2010.

Iceman 07-12-2009 02:52 PM

TNA v WWE Monday Night Wars, has a nice ring to it!

Sarah. 07-12-2009 02:54 PM

*cries* I want Chris Jericho to follow me on Twitter. :bawling: He follows stupid fangirls.. I want to be one of them!!:bawling:

Anyway..:bawling:

TNA are gonna fail. There's no way I wanna watch Hogan's return for the 34834093473097th time

Stu 07-12-2009 02:55 PM

I'm sorry but going against Raw is fucking retarded, any way you try to spin it. With the Hogan show it's a nice opening salvo but TNA are only doing a fraction of what Raw are doing in the states right now on a different night. Putting it up against Raw would be suicide and unnecessary.

My money says Hogan will make sweet fuck all difference to TNA. TNA's success or failure will have nothing to do with Hogan on the brand. The guy simply wont draw big ratings for wrestling companies anymore.

Iceman 07-12-2009 03:15 PM

Its a tester show to see how they do in the ratings......hogan is the person being puit forward as the new face of TNA when we all know its really Eric Bishoff running the show, I'd say bischoff will eventually buy out TNA

Hogan as the new face of TNA would be a disaster. The orange one should work on creating at least one or two new stars. That would be more than what TNA has done like ... ever. This act of putting a midcarder in a main event slot for one night only like TNA always does is crap. Angle is seriously the only person ATM they can put the belt on and not have it look like a discount version of the 'E.

I hope they get rid of that gimmicky looking ring too and take things out of the fanboy drenched iMPACT Zone, even if it means putting the January show in Jimmy Hart's backyard. The ring does nothing for the ratings and I reckon Hogan won't want to wrestle in it anyway.

Anyway I think The Rock will probably end up hosting Raw the night they go head to head. Only a matter of time too before RVD, Flair and Kennedy come to TNA. And Sid. Hogan's a big fan of Sid. Sid fucking rocks.

I have this feeling that Chris will actually not leave Raw, even when he's no longer a tag team champion... He's not really got anything to do on Smackdown, and Cena is in need of a new challenger for the WWE title when he beats Sheamus...

King Gizzard 08-12-2009 12:06 AM

Don't think chris is big enough to fight Cena

big as in physical, and big character at this stage

Orton will get his way back into it

Or sheamus will have a long stint

Stu 08-12-2009 12:14 AM

Size hardly matters. Chris is being lined up to fight Undertaker at WrestleMania by all accounts. If size mattered Chris would have a very hard time finding main event opponents, but as it happens he seems to be doing fine.

Sarah. 08-12-2009 12:15 AM

Jericho vs Cena for WWE title @ Tribute to the Troops this year.
Houseshow matches scheduled to be Jericho vs Cena for WWE title in January...

who knows.

King Gizzard 08-12-2009 12:18 AM

Really just don't seem him as the big character anymore, as in wrestling wise

King Gizzard 08-12-2009 12:19 AM

Not that it matters much but he should go shaved head or at least cut it

and put some trousers on

Christian styley

King Gizzard 08-12-2009 12:20 AM

Sid Justice vs Undertaker was just on WWE vintage collection by the way

Novo 08-12-2009 12:21 AM

i See him as a massive character in WWE, he has been involved in the best storylines for the past 2 years and him being Heel has worked great

Don't think i'd watch it anymore if it wasn't for him, defiantly deserves to be WWE champion again, **** off cena

I agree 100%. He's definitely the best heel in the business.

Really hope he gets a World Title soon, and holds it longer than a month.

King Gizzard 08-12-2009 12:25 AM

He just tweeted 3 times in a minute ;o
