Princess Mononoke was amazing. I still haven't seen any other Studio Ghibli films. Claudia, you should know that I'm a biiiiiig film freak haha. Especially Film4.

GypsyGoth 12-11-2009 12:43 AM

The Cat Returns is fantastic.

Rory 12-11-2009 12:44 AM

Never heard of it. The Studio Ghibli films that are on my list to see are Spirited Away, Grave of the Fireflies, and My Neighbor Totoro. Any others I should add?

GypsyGoth 12-11-2009 12:47 AM

Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind
Kiki's Delivery Service
Howl's Moving Castle

These both are slow paced:
My Neighbor Totoro
Only Yesterday

Rory 12-11-2009 12:48 AM

Oh yeah! Howl's Moving Castle is in my list too, I think I have that recorded. I've heard of Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind because it was on Film4's 50 Films to See Before You Die list. I think I'm going to have to have a marathon of those films. :p

GypsyGoth 12-11-2009 12:51 AM

Ooo *googles Film4 50 Films list*

Tom4784 12-11-2009 12:53 AM

Howl was my first Ghibli film, then I went out and bought Mononoke, Whisper of the Heart, Laputa and Grave of the Fireflies
().

I've seen Porco Russo, Castle of Cagliostro and The Cat Returns on Film Four though. They tend to show a lot of them.

GypsyGoth 12-11-2009 12:57 AM

I haven't see Porco Russo and Castle of Cagliostro yet.

And I was disappointed in Whispers of the Heart because I seen part two the Cat Returns first.

Rory 12-11-2009 12:59 AM

Yeah, Film4 shows Princess Mononoke a lot too. Last year it was a part of their Films to See Before You Die strand (not a part of the official list)

Here's the list:

A Bout de Souffle
Aguirre, the Wrath of God
Alien
All About Eve

Apartment, The
Apocalypse Now
Badlands
Black Narcissus
Boyz N the Hood
Brazil

Come and See
Dawn of the Dead
Donnie Darko

Erin Brockovich
Fanny and Alexander
Fight Club
Heavenly Creatures

Hero
Ipcress File, The
King of Comedy, The
Ladykillers, The
Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India

Bolded means I've seen them. I haven't seen a lot, tbh.
Walkabout

Rory 12-11-2009 01:00 AM

Oh, and I guess Nausicaa Valley of the Winds was not a part of their 50 films. Strange, I thought it was.

GypsyGoth 12-11-2009 01:01 AM

 You haven't seen Erin Brockovich?!!?

I have it recorded, I've just never gotten around to watching it! haha.

Rory 12-11-2009 01:02 AM

To be honest, I've never been a real fan of Julia Roberts. America's Sweethearts was pure awful.

GypsyGoth 12-11-2009 01:03 AM

 Lost in Translation is one of my faves on that list.

And imagine seeing 49 of them and then dying.

they're not bad at all. WOTH isn't as good as the others I've seen but I still rather enjoyed it.

Rory 12-11-2009 01:06 AM

Haha, that'd be awful, Claudia. Lost in Translation is one of my favorite films as well!

If I had to choose, my favourite films are:
28 Days Later
Battle Royale
Big Fish
Children of Men
City of God
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
The Host
In Bruges
Lost in Translation
Hot Fuzz
The Machinist
Memento
Pan's Labyrinth
Oldboy
The Shawshank Redemption

GypsyGoth 12-11-2009 01:09 AM

Haven't seen The Host, In Bruges, City of God, Battle Royal, Hot Fuzz or Memento.

Will get them.

All of them are great films. Hot Fuzz/Shaun of the Dead are my favorite comedies.
