I Am Legend though I missed a chunk of it so will watch it again. Have it saved. What I saw I enjoyed

Grimnir 30-12-2010 05:42 PM

Frankenstein (1931 Karloff version) 8/10

I watched The Holiday last night. Jack Black and Kate Winslet's chemistry was a bit sh!t. Jack Black was acting his stereotypical "funny" self and Kate Winslet always appears to me like a cold hearted bitch. Her best performance was in Titanic in which she was quite "dramatic". Other than that the woman seems cold. To be honest I think I see a lot of myself in her. lol.

Jude Law and Cameron Diaz had good chemistry in the film though.

Overall the film was okay. I think it should have just been a film about Jude Law and Cameron Diaz though. Kate Winslet was a bit boring. Jack Black was okay.

The Next Best Thing - Possibly one of Madonna's most 'normal' films she has been in. No crazy storyline ala Desperately Seeking Susan and no indulgent role ala Swept Away http://209.85.48.8/1191/192/emo/sweptaway.jpg. A truly sweet normal film.

Finally got round to see the new Harry Potter, really enjoyed it, I'm glad they split it up into two parts now so they didnt have to chop big bits out of the book

Up In The Air.

I really enjoyed it. Anna Kendrick was great to watch, and I even managed to suspend hating George Clooney's mediocrity for 2 hours.

 Actually

The Expendables. I found it massively, massively dissapointing. I was expecting the 20 or whatever strong super action cast, 10 aside, in a jungle, red vs. blue, shooting the shit out of each other for two hours.

But no, they tried to put a heart in it. They show annoying 'look at Stone Cold hurr' shots of Austin's face about one billion times despite the fact that he never gets a line of fucking dialogue.

The movie is just far too disjointed and globe trotting. Stop trying to ... do ... stuff. Just have men killing other men. For two hours. That's all anybody wanted.

It's honestly just like playing Call Of Duty, without getting to actually play it. Just watching the terrible story play out. South America. Evil militia. You know the drill. Guys with 'Schavez' in their names.

Santa Claus : The Movie. Brought back an early childhood memory of when I saw it originally in the cinema when I was 6 and saying that If you didn't believe in Santa before you saw it you definitely would after:joker:

Grimnir 31-12-2010 05:55 PM

Dracula (Lugosi 1931 version) 9/10

Grimnir 31-12-2010 10:24 PM

The Public Enemy 10/10

The Ruins - One of the best horrors Ive seen in a while, edge of the seat suspense. Just the right amount of gore and suspense. The films plot did lose its self a few times, but overall I enjoyed it.

The Horsemen, I thought it was going to be very different, well I didn't know what it was about before I watched it, but I expected there at least to be horses; how wrong I was.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 again!

Still really enjoy watching this and Dobby's death never fails to bring a tear to my eye :(

Tom4784 03-01-2011 08:51 PM

Chatroom, wasn't without it's problems but it was good.

Niamh. 03-01-2011 11:09 PM

The Way Back - an amazing story, not a whole lot of action but how they actually did what they did is incredible

If you thought Titanic was her best then you've missed a couple of good films.
I haven't yet watched The Holiday all the way through. I can't get into films with Jude Law. Him and Cameron Diaz seem to play the same characters all the time. Jack Black came off a little bland too, agree his chemistry with Kate was a bit off.

I agree about Kate, I'm not a huge fan of hers but thought she was fantastic in Revolutionary Road

Black Swan. Incredible film, I can see why it's been nominated for so many awards at the Oscars. Natalie Portman is brilliant, as is Mila Kunis and the ending is so unexpected yet tragic.

The Loved Ones

Little known horror which deserves more recognition. Absolutely sick, but great psychopathic acting from a prom queen. If you're queasy then avoid.

Mac Hiavellian 04-01-2011 12:07 PM

Probably Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows P1. Didn't like it
