Davinas failed jokes make me cringe.

Ugh, they're horrible.

'In the break won't don't you do someting usefull and learn how to read'

It's just no funny.

She tries way to hard and just makes herself look stupid

BBUK4LYFE 11-09-2009 10:48 PM

Agreed, shes never funny.

Marsh. 11-09-2009 11:26 PM

It's cringe-worthy when she constantly tries to think of various euphemisms (spelling?) for wanking

ILoveTRW 11-09-2009 11:29 PM

i thought it was very funny, do you guys live in the UK? because this is what is called British humour and if you dont understand it your either not british or a ****

Vicky. 11-09-2009 11:30 PM

Im from the uk, and the 'joke' was still crap.

MiuMiu 11-09-2009 11:30 PM

Let me guess, you guys are coincidentley angry over Davina's Siavash-bashing also?

Marsh. 11-09-2009 11:31 PM

I do understand it but when she tries to be funny by saying "Beat the sausage" or whatever cr*p euphemism for masturbating, i'm afraid my humour levels are more mature than that. British humour is crude but not like that, that is something 13 year olds wet themselves at.

BTW nothing to do with Siavash bashing as i don't like him either.

I'm British, but I don't live in the UK.

karezza 12-09-2009 10:17 AM

Davina isn't very intelligent. She is very crude and thinks we are fooled by Big Brother's manipulation & reverse psychology.

:wavey:

Tom 12-09-2009 10:24 AM

Just completely disregard the fact she reads off an autocue written by the producers if it means you can get a bit of Davina bashing in

That is not british humour!

The only reason inneundo's are popular in this country was the fact that the film censorship in years gone by was a lot stricter, and they came up with these jokes and puns to poke at the censor. Now they are just tired old jokes with no point, the only reason people laugh in the audience is because when in a group people tend to laugh more. When your watching TV on your own you rarely laugh, but if a group of you are their you do.

British humour is typically the sad, pathetic type that struggles against all aspects of life, self-depricating, unsuccessful and a fool. THAT IS BRITISH HUMOUR NOT SMUT, whilst you can say that smut made an impact its more of a side feature. Depressing characters is what we like, not like the American successful characters. The American ones we have liked in this country (Mash, Cheers, Roseanne, Frasier, Curb Your Enthusiam) are very much in the same vein, the only real exception was Friends.

British humour is self deprecitating, its more than cheap smut

Tony Hancock
Goons
Dads Army
Some Mothers Do Have Them
Blackadder
Black Books
Alan Partridge
Only Fools and Horses
Young Ones

too name hardly any

All very negative, down trodden comedys but which is British humour.

One foot in the grave
porridge
fawlty towers
steptoe
royal family
citizen smith
spaced
red dwarf
men behaving badly
the office
Sykes

All down trodden, unsuccesful types. That is british humour, not the bloody Carry On films

i really dont understand how learn to read is ment to be funny

[rquote=2564561&tid=147453&author=kerplunk124]i really dont understand how learn to read is ment to be funny[/rquote]

Private jokes methinks. The way the show comes across is as though its aimed at the lowest common denominator and the more intelligent members of the viewing audience are aware of it- we're supposed to laugh at the brain dead morons who probably don't get it or can't read.

My partner is dyslexic. I find that comment quite offensive.

In case you dont know, not being able to read does not make you less intelligent. But having such a narrow view does.

Just because someone cant read does not make them 'braindead morons', nor does the fact that they 'dont get' a stupid joke like that. I 'got' it, it was just crap, like most of her jokes on BM.

But you're missing the point, they aren't her jokes

*mazedsalv** 12-09-2009 12:01 PM

The one I laughed at was the ones at the beginning especially:

"Did anyone see Marcus put together the least sucessful orgy party ever?" and a shot of about 8 of the HMs in the DR bored out of their minds.

I thought most of the stuff on BM was her own...even so, my comment was aimed at the way you tried to explain how it was meant to be funny, not at the actual joke.

UglyBaby 12-09-2009 12:13 PM

She did some of those jokes before already!

I really do not understand why she feels the need to do a routine. Russell is a comedian so it was natural for him. Davinas a presenter who fancies herself as a comedian. She's much funnier just interacting with people and not trying so hard.

But as the main presenter of BB she is absolutely irreplaceable. There's just nobody else with her knowledge and passion for the show.

Ramsay 12-09-2009 12:27 PM

I also find the whole Brian Belo thing on BBBM stupid and overused

I kinda have to agree with Tom though Vikki....

BB does come across as a program where the lowest common denominator is the one that is aimed for. For example on BBLB they make people taste maggots for a chance to enter the house, throw food at people, and expect us to find it funny that we are laughing at idiots doing this (which is something that a lot of these shows (x factor, bb, brits got talent) we watch them to laugh at the things other idiots do. Whereas the sort of person that would do these things laugh with rather than at.

I watch BB to often laugh at people and their stupidity (and I don't mean stupid people).

Alan Partridge is a great example - we watch it and laugh at him, not with him, at him, but its still an intelligent program essentially about an idiot.

BB and Davina know that they appeal on a vast level to the base level audience and to people that still find things on BBLB funny. Its not intelligent and they often take the mickey out of the people on the shows for doing it, they look down on the people watching even though they are no better.

Tom was wrong to say about not being able to read etc, but I feel he was just using an example which happened to be close to home you. It wasn't the best example to give, but I do agree with the point he was making.

BB do treat us like we are all idiots, but then why should we expect any different as Channel 4 are like this in a lot of their programming.

The series TOO FAT TO WALK is a great example, that wasn't about peoples struggle to lose weight, it was about fat people that couldn't even get over a (whats the thing you get in the country to climb over a fence in a series of steps, want to call it a sty but thats wrong).

That program was literally point and laugh at the fatties. C4 do this often, we shouldn't be suprised any more.

Its a stile!
