College, 9-5 is such a pain!

So I had my first official day at college, it was so boring!!

The IT teacher, Brian, completely sent the whole class to sleep, we were in the roiom for 3h30 mins, its not like its school and that you only have 50 mins of a lesson... 3 hours and a half!!!

Media was okay but we had to read out a random story about sterotypes that we made, and it was embarassing!!

9am-5pm is dreadful!!

Thank God tomorrow i have 10:45-3:15 and the same for Thurs, but on Friday I have 9-5 again!!

Sam! 15-09-2009 04:39 PM

9 till five loll. I have 37 lessons a fortnight, meaning I have 13 hours free a fortnight yey. I only need to go in for lessons, the same as normal school but with frees and I can go where I want. yey

Well the thing is we have the whole timetable thing spread out. We have nothing from 12-2:15, but i cant pay for ANOTHER ticket for the train to go home. So i need to stay at the college until the WHOLE 8 hours is over.... horrible!

King Gizzard 15-09-2009 04:41 PM

You might want to look into getting an apprenticeship then because a lot of employers still see someone with A Levels as a school leaver, so really its just a waste of 2 years. Theres loads you can do though, not just become a joiner :joker: Theres loads of paid business & admin things if thats the kind of thing you want to get into

More worthwhile than college, don't make the same mistake I did having no idea what to do when you leave!!

Cheers, I'll have a look at that. I have no idea what i want to do when Im older, i dont want to have a future of what A Levels Im taking (Media, IT, Photograpghy and Film).

People could laugh at me, but i might just go straight into working at clubs or as a holiday Rep (i should have taken Travel and Tourism for A Level tbh) after finishing my A Levels, working in those sort of places would be something i would want to do imo lol

King Gizzard 15-09-2009 05:13 PM

youre not alone salv, i havnt the fogiest

Captain.Remy 15-09-2009 05:23 PM

9-5 isn't bad at all lmao

I sometimes do 8am-7pm and 30 minutes lunch time.

You'll get used to it, it's weird at the beginning but you'll love it. We all hate it at the beginning.

Mine are generally 4 hours. It can also be all day long with the same teacher, the same subject, 8 hours of boredom.

But then I know for a fact, the schedule for 2nd year students is so much better !

*mazedsalv** 15-09-2009 07:30 PM

The only good thing is that i have Mondays off

What kind of media is it? A level? A level media is pretty much a terrible course really. 9 - 5 isn't that bad really. When I was in college I used to wake up at 6 in the morning and didn't get back until 6 in the evening.

Other things will generally improve, you've got to learn to walk before you run after all.
