Anyone have a clue if you can get a refund on flights?

ARGH. I didn't get a ticket to this CIN thing. But stupid stupid me,actually I'm blaming my brother,he told me to get flights! Has already got flights. And now there's no reason to go to London anymore when I could get this really expensieve signed booked off Amazon instead.

I booked with Aer Lingus.anyone know anyway I could get my money back? I know it's not very likely :(

Captain.Remy 21-10-2009 05:13 PM

Lucky you, I know a bit about air transport (sometimes Uni can be useful lol)

Right, did you pay for an cancellation insurance when paying your ticket ?

If you did, call Aer Lingus to get a refund, they'll explain you how to proceed. If you didn't because you thought 'it's never going to happen to me' (like 95% of customers do), then either you're screwed, or you can call Aer Lingus and see what they tell you, but it's unlikely you'll get anything back.

Oh yes it is ! It covers trip cancellation too. Call Aer Lingus whenever you can. I think they'll ask you the details about the trip and the ticket number. They generally never like giving refund (not only Aer Lingus, but also...all of them) so be nice and gentle, it will be good.

Do a charge back on your credit card ...

Princess 21-10-2009 05:17 PM

Oh damn! I was gonna get travel insurance, feck sake :( I'll ring them tomorrow, thanks Remy!

Oh sorry I read too fast, I thought you said you paid it. Well, apparently you didn't so you may not be paid back but give it a shot. You never know.

Basically phone up your credit card company/bank and convince them its fraud, and they'll put the money back :joker:

Thats always a last resort though

Nicky. 21-10-2009 05:28 PM

Come to my house!!
(Ok, I live about 4 hours on a train from London... but it'll be worth it!) ;)

Tom 21-10-2009 05:29 PM

Just went on the company site you're using

http://www.aerlingus.com/i18n/en/htm...ms_of_use.html

"Changing and cancelling your booking
If you wish to make changes to or cancel a booking made on the Aer Lingus website, please call your local Aer Lingus office. For relevant contact details, please refer to the 'About Us' section of this site. Depending on the conditions applicable to the fare you purchase, changes to or cancellation of your ticket may not be permitted or change/cancellation fees may apply. "

So you could end up with a bigger loss if you cancel ... you still might as well go London though if you can't get your money back, would be a waste otherwise, go and see a show in the West End or something

Might as well phone and see what they say but do it as an enquiry first

Princess 21-10-2009 05:30 PM

Thanks for that Tom! x

LOL Nicky :P I'll prob go to Wales next tour,I'll come visit then :P

Wildcat! 21-10-2009 05:54 PM

It basically depends on the tickets you bought. Its just like in the department stores. certain items are fully refundable, some arent. Tey should tell you when you buy your ticket. If its a promotion ticket, more than likely, its non refundable. If its not, then it probably is refundable. Again, ask the company, and they will tell you the policy on your ticket. NOne of us can know that, no matter what our experience is. Every ticket is different.

Princess 21-10-2009 05:56 PM

Thanks Wildcat :) I'm gonna ring them tomorrow.
