Zac Efron for Spiderman 4!
 

ACTOR Zac Efron is set for a 9-million-pound payday for his role as Spider Man. The High School Musical star will step into Tobey Maguire’s shoes for the fourth blockbuster movie, slated to start shooting later this year and hit theatres in 2012.

Tobey, 34, shocked bosses at Universal Pictures last year when he announced he was quitting the megabucks franchise. “After dumping Spidey, Tobey then came to the rescue by recommending that Zac should take over his role,” the Daily Star quoted a studio insider as saying.

Producers of the Spider Man franchise reckon that the 22-year-old, who has a huge teen following, will bring new fans to the Spider-Man series. They are also believed to be considering reuniting Zac with his High School Musical co-star Vanessa Hudgens, 21. She is hotly tipped to replace Kirsten Dunst, 27, as Spider-Man’s love interest.

“It would be a great coup to land her as well” a source said.

It's not true, Zac confirmed he's not going to do it.

But seriously no one over the age of 10 would see it if they were the leads. They'd be alienating the very powerful demographic that is teens and young adults.

Indeed, I think they have milked the Spider-Man franchise too much anyway really.

I'm betting on an unknown for the lead really although thinking about it Evan Rachel Wood was cast in that musical version maybe if she's good enough she'll do the film? Jim Sturgess has been linked to it as well although he wasn't cast. He could play the part well.

I would be willing to give him a shot, he has been trying really hard to break away from the disney character he has.

Spiderman has went down hill, I loved the first one but slowly its began to become ****.
Spiderman 3 was horrible, Spiderman 2 was boring.

I love Spiderman 1 though, I think if Spiderman 4 does fail, which it will if they have Zac in it, then they should just stop making it.
But then again little girls may watch it if Zac is in it.. but alot of people dont care about him or his girlfriend anymore as High School Musical is dead and gone.
