James Bulger Killer Returned To Prison after breach of terms

Jon Venables, one of the killers of James Bulger, has been returned to prison after breaching the terms of his release, the Ministry of Justice said tonight.

Venables, 27, and Robert Thompson abducted and murdered James in February 1993.

He was released from custody in 2001, but he has been recalled following the breach.

A spokesman said: "We can confirm that Jon Venables has been recalled to custody following a breach of licence conditions.

"Offenders on licence are subject to strict conditions; if they breach those conditions they are subject to immediate recall.

"There is a worldwide injunction in place that prohibits any reporting including reporting on the internet, that could identify him or his location."

Details of the nature of the breach have not been released.

Venables and Thompson were aged 10 when they embarked on a crime that stunned the world.

On February 13, 1993, they abducted James from a shopping centre and killed him on a railway line.

The toddler's battered body was found by children playing on a freight railway line 200 yards from Walton Lane police station, Liverpool, and more than two miles from the Strand shopping centre.

Days later Venables and Thompson were arrested in connection with the murder of James, and later charged. They were the youngest to be charged with murder in the 20th century.

In November that year, they were convicted following a 17-day trial at Preston Crown Court and ordered to be detained at Her Majesty's pleasure, the normal substitute sentence for life imprisonment when the offender is a juvenile.

Good let him rot:mad:, they should get the other one back inside too.

Jack_ 02-03-2010 08:10 PM

They should both still be in there. I'd love to know what they look like now though, to see how they've changed.

Scarlett. 02-03-2010 08:12 PM

Lets hope he stays in there

Patrick 02-03-2010 08:14 PM

Good!

They should both be thrown out of a helicopter into the crowded Streets of Liverpool with their real names wrote on their forehead, Lets see if they like to be beat to death.

Bitches, Its good that one of them is going to jail though, lets hope the other one ****s up and gets sent back too.

I expect James Bulger's mother is VERY happy about this piece of news.

andyman 02-03-2010 08:26 PM

Maybe he is a fking smack head and was breaking into sheds.. Karma should put his fate in the hands of a drunken driver.. At least then a worthy hit and run.

I dont get it, why was he even released in the first place!! These 2 murdered a child, how old were they back then? If they were dangerous back then, imagine what they would be grown up!... ****ing vile bastards

Patrick 02-03-2010 08:34 PM

I remember watching a documentary about these 2, the place they were sent included a TV, A PS1, Games, they were allowed to walk about chatting and go to school in the place and were even took out on little trips during the day.

Sounds like a ****ing youth club never mind a Detention Center.

The do-gooders believe in rehabilitation. Trouble is a lot of offenders are let out, only to re-offend so it doesn't always support their theory. I know what I would do with them....

*mazedsalv** 02-03-2010 08:39 PM

I just dont see how two 11 year old boys would have the head to do something like that.
I just dont understand. They were 11 and they beat him on a railway track with bricks, metal poles and left him there to get hit by a train.

They are beyond evil. I would say let them rot

andyman 02-03-2010 08:44 PM

I made a thread about them two back in November/Dec 2008.. Plenty of opinions posted.

Kerry 02-03-2010 09:08 PM

Makes me want to vomit that those vile scumbags are out anyway, let alone with new identities. Absolute joke

Venables' solicitor, Laurence Lee, told the BBC: "He could have been recalled on licence if he committed an offence, it could be that he returned to Merseyside, it could be he might have approached the family.

"There is no evidence so far that he did any of these things."

It's the headlines on ITV. They are saying the breach must have been serious.

I don't think I could be a solicitor having to defend scum like that.

Weird. I was searching on google about this and the following story came up under his name, although there is no reference to him in it.

"

A 27-year-old man has been arrested by detectives investigating a shooting in Liverpool.

A 24-year-old man was taken to hospital in the early hours after being shot in the arm in Aigburth.

Merseyside Police believe the incident happened in the Riversdale Road area and are carrying out house-to-house inquiries.

The suspect, from Allerton, has been taken to an undisclosed police station for questioning.

Detectives believe the man was shot at about 0200 GMT on Sunday and are trying to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

They are appealing to anyone who may have information to come forward."

It was posted on Sunday. Venables is now 27. Most probably not related but for some reason it popped up under one of the latest news stories under Jon Venables. Strange.

Well its good to see that at least one of them will do some time in jail, even if it is only up till his breach of licence review. If he has commited another offence of violence, hopefully he will be sentenced to a long sentence bearing in mind he was released under licence.

If this comment "But Venables was also reported to have been involved in several violent incidents, including in December 2007 when he was said to have been stabbed after accusing someone of chatting up his girlfriend." is true, why wasnt he put in jail a lot earlier?

The way people go on about this case is disturbng, they think themselves better but express sentiment of revenge, even though they were not personally wronged.

In this particular case it would be wise to see what the "breach" may have been, but also you must bear in mind that there are those out there who know how mobs behave on a collective, and going by some of the posts here they are right, and we must also remember that we are in a run up to a general election. For the moment becoming a conspiracy theorist, what better way for politicians to ingraciate themselves with a jaded public than to make an apparent decision that panders to a baying mob?

Were this to happen, and I have no evidence that anyone is doing this for that motive, then they would be no better than the ceasers throwing bread into a crowd before the gladitorial games of ancient Rome.

They commited murder, thats a crime against society, society can feel agrieved. Whilst it is true that we dont yet know why he has been sent to jail (they werent jailed before but, because of their age, held in Local Authority secure accomodation). Lots of people feel that the sentence they received(min 8 years) was insufficient.

The reasons being 10 year olds commiting so callous a murder shocked people. Mind its not the first time children of that age have commited murder and it wasnt the last.

To suggest that its a political move is quite cynical, he must have done something relatively serious in the conditions of his licence to breech it. If he didnt and it was relatively trivial, it would soon come out and then the Ministry of Justice would be looking at a nice court case.

Zippy 03-03-2010 02:52 PM

Which ever way you look at it, 7-8 years for what they did is a shocking sentence. Especially when you just know that the place they were locked up at was probably better equipped and more comfortable than many kids own homes.

They still have their entire adult life ahead of them, in freedom. After kidnapping, torturing and killing a young boy? I just don't see how anybody can justify that sentence. They should be locked up until they are at least 30. Even just as pure punishment.

And yes we should know why his parole has been revoked. We seem to know about why other criminals are re-arrested. Why are they afforded so much protection and secrecy? Everything about this case is truly shocking; from the crime itself right up to the way our judicial system has put these boys rights way above everybody elses. Plus the interference of foreign bodies in our home affairs.

None of it has given Jamie Bulger or his family any sense of justice. I'd be furious if I were them.

They are afforded the right for their identity to be protected because they have apparently been rehabilitated. It does sort of go against the grain of fairness as most other people with criminal records have to report the fact for certain jobs under the Rehabilitation of Offenders act. The law its a fickle thing eh?

The initial recommendation of their sentence was extended to 10 and then either 12 or 15 years, however this was overruled on appeal to Europe and the original recommendation was restored. prior to release they sat before Parole Board hearings and it was decided they had been rehabilitated. Their psychologists, social workers and private tutors said so.

I don't trust the judgement of social workers one iota. Theyre gullible suckers who wanna see good in everybody.

I was in big trouble at 13 and had social workers around me too. My God were they easy to hoodwink! I remember laughing at how soft and gullible they were. Falling over themselves to believe I was really a good boy.

Regardless of rehabilitation, what about a decent punishment? Is that not part of justice? Whatever they have become the fact is they do not deserve to have their entire adult life in freedom. They took that childs life away entirely. They do not deserve freedom for a very long time.
