Does anyone regret not going to Uni?

I have been thinking about this a lot for the past few days. If i do well in Film or Media in college, I might take some sort of Journalism course in University.

First, i was saying how I didnt want to go, mainly because the only reason i wanted to go is because of the parties... which is always a big part of it... but all my cousins say they regret not going and if they turned back time they would defenitley go.

Did everyone who went to university love it? And who regrets not going?

I can't really help, as I'm still in school haha, but my friend goes to Uni, but lives at home... so doesn't get dragged out to all the parties, just goes to the ones she wants to go to (which isn't alot!) so maybe you could do something like that? Xx

University is okay, bar from so many essays.

Sometimes I think I would have been better getting a job instead.

I would not go to uni unless you a doing a recognised degree that leads to a profession like a vet, dentist, doctor, lawyer..

If you are going to do History, English, Geography, Koi Carpology, Pornography in French Films

get a job instead as you will end up in 3-4 years looking for the same job with 3-4 years of no experience

I enjoy it mostly.. I live in halls, and it's not one permanent party and you're under no obligation to be a part of it if there is one going on; I just go to whatever I feel like going to. It can be quite lonely and stressful in my experience so far, but I'm glad I'm here.

Niamh. 11-03-2010 11:40 AM

Living in a city full of uni students and dating someone who also goes to uni, it's not all what it's cracked up to be. Most students end up studying a subject which, in reality, won't get them a job unless they're lucky and smart enough to be self-employed and run a business. And believe me, most students are so stupid they shouldn't even be there. The only reason they are is because mummy and daddy paid for the uni funds.

I'm gonna be going to uni this year and I'm stressing out ALREADY lol.
i wanna study musical theatre/performing arts, but i know once i get into somewhere, i should feel okay.
it looks good.

I don't regret not going. I am happy in the job I have now. I don't think I could stick to 3 years doing a full on degree. However if you are interested about going to uni then go!

Lol College is mainly for A levels and diploma's and apprentices and NVQ's. Although the college I went to you can still do degree's there. University is mainly about degree's or access courses to degree's or higher diploma's.

Lol yep. You are not always guaranteed a high paid job. After uni most go on them graduate schemes for 2 years then change onto another job and so on. Yeah I could not keep to all the essays I don't think. Well I got a pass when I did my diploma at college (worth 3 a levels) I did apply to uni but in June last year I got a job and enjoyed the job, well really I would say I am more content in it than "happy" now. There is also room for promotion in the job I do.. that could happen in the future but not sure if I want the stress of being a supervisor or a manager.. umm. I am happy to just be a worker. Hehe.

I might have gone to uni if I didn't have this job.. but I would probs be end up really stressed and probably depressed with the essays and ****.

EDIT: Also after Uni it is about finding a job too and erm I am just grateful for where I am now really.

no I'd rather be in a full time job earning $$$$

Tom 11-03-2010 06:09 PM

I really regret dropping out but I couldn't adapt to not being able to earn much if I wanted to. I'm going again in September though, doing Psychology & Law.

Rob 11-03-2010 06:10 PM

nope
