Clash of the Titans

This looks epic.

Clash of the Titans is an upcoming 2010 fantasy film which is a remake of the 1981 film of the same name, itself loosely based on the Greek myth of Perseus.[2][3][4] Directed by Louis Leterrier and starring Sam Worthington, the film was originally set for standard release on March 26, 2010.[3][4] It was later announced that the film would be converted to 3-D and released on April 2, 2010.

* Sam Worthington as Perseus[2], the hero, main protagonist, and son of Zeus
* Liam Neeson as Zeus[2][7], the leader of the Gods of Mount Olympus
* Ralph Fiennes as Hades,[2] God of the Underworld and the primary villain
* Alexa Davalos as Andromeda[2][8]
* Izabella Miko as Athena[9]
* Mads Mikkelsen as Draco, leader of the Praetorian Guard[2][10]
* Jason Flemyng as Acrisius/Calibos[2]
* Gemma Arterton as Io[2]
* Danny Huston as Poseidon[11]
* Tamer Hassan as Ares
* Pete Postlethwaite as Spyros[12]
* Polly Walker as Cassiopeia
* Kaya Scodelario as Peshet
* Nicholas Hoult as Eusabios
* Natalia Vodianova as Medusa
* Hans Matheson as Ixas
* Mouloud Achour as Kucuk

Is Clash of the Titans that film where they kill Medusa and fight all these skeletons towards the end?

Shaun 24-03-2010 08:22 PM

Yeah I think so...I've only seen a few bits of the 1981 version.

This looks like a turkey to me, with the director having made appalling, brainless popcorn flicks like The Transporter and The Incredible Hulk prior to this effort. I like my epic sword and sorcery films to be just that: epic, not another mindless 300 clone tailor made to suit the ADHD generation. Not holding out much hope for this one although I'd be delighted if my first impressions were wrong.

Enid 24-03-2010 08:24 PM

Ooooh I may have to go see this new one then. I bet they'll sexualise Medusa though. Hate when they do that in films.

Tom4784 24-03-2010 08:25 PM

It looks like it'll be a fun film.

Medusa was in Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief, she was played by Uma Thurman.

It'll be a fun but brainless adventure film like the original at best. It's not gonna win an oscar but I can see it being entertaining.

Medusa used to scare me so much in the original Clash of the Titans.

GypsyGoth 24-03-2010 08:35 PM

I think I might d/l the original, she does look scary.

Tom4784 24-03-2010 08:38 PM

Yeah...she doesn't so much any more :laugh:.

It will be if you take it seriously, some films you just gotta enjoy them for what they are.

Ramsay 24-03-2010 08:45 PM

The original is far from brainless and I grew up with it so I have great affection for it's craftmanship, old school pacing and great cameos from some classic actors. This one just looks like mindless rubbish. Hope I'm wrong though. The only thing going for this new one is the face that they have a decent actor as Perseus.

I found that odd too.

IheartBB 24-03-2010 10:38 PM

Were it not in 3D, I'd say this film would be a total flop.

Smithy 24-03-2010 10:48 PM

This looks so much better than the original version, we had to watch it in latin, it was awful

It's a good film but it is a brainless adventure film, just a well made one. Brainless doesn't mean bad, sometimes I want a challenging and more intellectual film sometimes I just want something a bit fun. neither are bad just good in different ways.

Enid 24-03-2010 11:04 PM

I watched 300 the other night. Now THAT was brainless gorey fun. :D

There's a difference between fun and outright dross though. Actually a huge difference and this looks like the latter to me... another Tranformers 2, awash with fast cuts, big monsters and zero personality. The original had personality.
