Election 2010

I thought it would be best to have one dedicated thread for the election now that there is less than 48 hours until polling opens
So discuss anything election related here

Jessica. 04-05-2010 02:58 PM

All of these election threads are just spam, there are way too many! It isn't fair really.

Shaun 04-05-2010 03:02 PM

Spam my arse, they're threads about important topics. I hardly think you're one to preach about what is and isn't a decent post, Jessica.

Shaun 04-05-2010 03:05 PM

I'm looking forward to Election Night. Like Jimmy Carr said, it's "Eurovision for straight people". [And yes, I'm completely heterosexual.]

I wouldn't say it's spam at all - It's far more important than Big Brother.. It could change the world forever.

Harry! 04-05-2010 06:47 PM

I really REALLY hope Conservatives win!

Stacey. 04-05-2010 06:47 PM

next time there are votes - i'll be allowed to vote :D

Jack_ 04-05-2010 06:49 PM

I'm really excited, strangely. I've got into this election quite a bit. Pissed I can't stay up all night and watch the results, but hey.

Exit polls are at 10pm which give a good indication to how it will go (although not always accurate such as in 1992)
We could be waiting until Friday for a result with it being so close between the parties.

6AM, apparently.

Though I guess it depends what time they've got all the results in. I'm new to this so I don't really have any idea.

Shaun 04-05-2010 06:58 PM

I think there's usually a clear indication of who'll win by about 2am, but then again, the polls are close this time.

Spike 04-05-2010 07:04 PM

It's really hard to predict when we will have a result because it's just so close. It's going to be a long Thursday night/Friday morning.

Spike 04-05-2010 07:10 PM

Latest poll
YouGov
Con 35% (n/c)
Lab 30% (up 2)
Lib Dem 24% (down 4)
Others 11% (up 2)

In terms of seats
Con 260
Lab 289
Lib Dem 72
Others 29

Labour largest party by these results.
One more poll out later although that does tend to be the Tories best poll.

I really really hope the Tories dont get in, much as i dont like Labour, i think the Tories are so much worst..IMO

thisisme2008 04-05-2010 07:19 PM

Yeah - all the results will be in by Friday lunchtime (except one constituency which isnt voting until the 27th because a candidate died) but a lot will be in by 5am giving a fair indication of what the most likely outcome is - I am counting votes this year. I think we will probably see a Conservative majority of about 30 - 40 seats...

Stacey. 04-05-2010 07:30 PM

i hope Labour win! :D

Only provided the government(s) goes full term and another election does not need to be held because of failures of a hung parliament

And you really think the Conservatives will fix this? Look at what happened last time.

Firewire 04-05-2010 08:08 PM
