People that say Ben is just some gameplayer..

Maybe he is just genuinly lacking in common sense and thats why he slips up all the time and apologises?

Alot of smart people lack in common sense

MusicMan 22-06-2010 11:56 PM

I think he just doesn't realise when he steps his foot in it

He seems to be quite socially inexperienced

Fetch The Bolt Cutters 22-06-2010 11:56 PM

he isnt a gameplayer at all you can tell because he was like omg wow friends when shabby started talking to him... evil bitch

MissKittyFantastico 23-06-2010 12:00 AM

I do think he's terribly awkward in social situations like the house, and I did feel awful for him when he thought that Scabby was being genuine BUT I do think he's a gameplanner, he was blatantly trying to turn JJ against Scabby when he told him that lie about her rubbing her hands at him leaving, and he bitches as much as Govan does.

King Gizzard 23-06-2010 12:01 AM

He bitches with good reason, theyre always fcking bitching about him dave and sunshine

John was a mate, he wasnt trying to turn her against her cause John was already on his side..there was no turning to be done

MissKittyFantastico 23-06-2010 12:07 AM

There was really no need for him to say that though, the way he suddenly blurted it out in that convo when John was pulling him up on something?? Thats what makes me think he was just out to cause trouble

I might be totally wrong and he may just be terribly insecure and not have a clue but I think that would be insulting his intelligence, he's got it all figured out I reckon and is playing the game

bringbackscience 23-06-2010 12:09 AM

He said the other day that he likes tetris.

vesavius 23-06-2010 12:11 AM

He is a slippery cowardly machiavellian snake who is oblivious to the fact that he is socially retarded.

Like I have said before though, most socially retarded people don't know they are and often try to play others, often with disastrous results as they lack the empathy and awareness to actually be good at it.

supergirthuk 23-06-2010 12:11 AM

He is just a bit naive and not as hard-faced as some of the other housemates. He probably feels vunerable amongs some housemate as he is totally unable to handle aggression towards him.

This is a good thing for him in the house as aggressors are generally hated outside the house and coming from a different world than most of the people watching the program he could not afford to upset the public in this way as I think it would end in his downfall.

Beastie 23-06-2010 12:12 AM

Ben is one of the most manipulative but I do think deep down he is a good person.

I don't think it was to cause trouble, I just genuinley think that was bens interpritation of the event, and he was just trying to help a friend out

You can see he doesn't want to cause arguements by the way he easily gets distressed during them

He never actually said rubbing hands it was Josie and Gollum's chinese whispers. He said that she was happy when it looked like JJ was on his way out and Josie mentioned the hand rubbing.

He does bitch as much as Gollum though I'll give you that.

DrunkerThanMoses 23-06-2010 12:19 AM

He is a gameplayer, shame govan sussed him out.

Hes still one of my favourites!

Hmmm it just seemed odd that he would blurt that out to try and change the direction of the convo for no reason, he was so defensive when he said it as well, as if John shouldnt be criticising him because he's his friend and then stating that he should be going off at Shabby instead because of what she supposedly did, that's causing trouble to me for no reason. But maybe I've got him totally wrong, I don't think so though at this point.

Nah it was Ben that mentioned the hand rubbing and the smirking initially to JJ, Josie didn't mention it until the convo in the bathroom between JJ, her and Govan.

No, do you mean 'Do you only watch the HL shows?'? No, to both anyway. What do you watch that makes you feel able to question my viewing habits? Have you got your own special camera in there or did I blink and miss Ben take out half of the housemates with a machete?

I must have missed it when I went back and checked my recordings of the live feed. I stand corrected.

Funniest thing I've read all week.

He's as big a bitch as Govan, he even bitches about his own friends (except Mario who sucks up to what he says and will not openly disagree, only give no comment at worst).

Angus 23-06-2010 07:07 AM

Every year we get this ridiculous accusation "so and so is a gameplayer". Well HELLO, BB is a GAME SHOW people, and I defy any single one of the HMs to say they are NOT playing a game. The idea is to stay in till the end, and then hopefully win the big prize, AND to do whatever it takes to stay in. Some play the game nicer and more subtley than others, some are more malicious and nasty, but they ALL want to win. Don't let that "I'm only here for the experience" bullsh*t fool you.

What I don't get is that if these HMs have seen BB before they should know by now that the bad guy NEVER wins, yet every year you get the idiots who think they can manipulate public perception.

starry 23-06-2010 07:27 AM

Quite a few of the HMs know they have no big chance of winning. The only ones who think they have are probably Corin, Josie, Mario, Ify, Keevah. I would be surprised if Steve or Nathan think they have a chance but who knows? The rest know that if you are a big character you don't win BB nowadays, they've said it lot of times on the show. Most of them are very familiar with how the show works, they know the role that they play in it. Some are meant to be there to cause friction in the house, really to create the entertainment. Others sail through to the final promoted as 'the good guys' but really they are just the smaller characters.

They might know all that or pay it lip service, but they still proceed to act like pillocks. They should by now know that not only does a "nice" guy always ultimately win, but the nasty, manipulative ones do NOT generally prosper outside the house. So again, I wonder, why do they do it?

Look at Rachel and Sophie, both totally unworthy winners IMO - not that I have anything against "nice", but I resent being bored. You can be both nice and entertaining (Brian (Dowling) Pete, Nadia) and so far the only ones with the potential to win the show using that criteria are Ben, Mario, JJ, Josie, and very possibly Sunshine if she keeps her inner diva under control. Corin, Nathan, Steve, Ife, Caoimhe, Dave, all just part of the wallpaper. Govan and Shabby might currently be grabbing all the air time but they're one trick ponies, so have no chance.

starry 23-06-2010 07:42 AM

Some people are put on the show to cause friction and they know that.
