Films you can constantly rewatch...

Ok, we all have our favourite movies of all time, but was just wondering if members had a certain few films that they can repeatedly watch, time and again, no matter how favoured they are by critics or not.

What are the films that you enjoy watching again from time to time? The ones that feel like a pair of old shoes or slacks, that always make you feel warm and content.....

I'm just after reading yours and it reminded me of a film I love just because of how sweet and gentle it is - The Secret Garden. Lovely little film.

Princess 11-08-2010 12:28 AM

Oh I havn't watched that in ages! I loved that movie.

BB_Eye 11-08-2010 12:28 AM

I'm generally not a big fan of rewatching movies, but when I saw Breathless recently for what must have been the 20th time, I would have to choose that.

Amadeus is very rewatchable too, as is the Last Emperor.

Oh, it's lovely. Just a very moving and gentle little film. Have it on Dvd somewhere around the house.

I'm bloody terrible for it! Total film nut.

The Goonies is always at the top of my film list

They are definitely worth a watch imo.

I'm sure there are plenty of movies I've seen that deserve to be viewed again. It always helps when they are lengthy and there is a lot of content you might not have picked up on before.

Strangely I've rewatched A Nightmare on Elm Street compulsively for years, but I never got the same scares as the first time which is a shame.

Boothy 11-08-2010 12:36 AM

The Hangover. Could literally put that on repeat and be happy all day :)

setanta 11-08-2010 12:37 AM

I always enjoy watching crappy thrillers again for some reason, as well as Star Trek movies.

And then Jaws is endlessly rewatchable.

setanta 11-08-2010 12:38 AM

Actually, not just crappy thrillers - Hitchcock's stuff is just timeless.

Shaun 11-08-2010 12:40 AM

Mean Girls - I've seen it about 50 times.

I often rewatch the Tarantinos. The History Boys too - there's always a hidden joke I didn't notice the first, second, third, fourth, fifth...time.

setanta 11-08-2010 12:41 AM

oh yeah Shauny, great comedies are always worth watching again. Have no idea how many times I've seen films like Tootsie or Planes, Trains and Automobiles.

Yep, alot of the ones you've mentioned would be on my list, particularly The Princess Bride and the Lord of the Rings movies, as well as the animated Lord of the Rings film from the late 70's I think.

Is it worth downloading?

It's a very low budget affair Claudia. Sure he couldn't complete it, and the latter stages of the released film are very rough. But yeah, if you're a fan of the books and the films then you should really watch it. Very trippy stuff too. Used to smoke a bit of the wacky stuff while watching it. Interesting film.

setanta 11-08-2010 12:58 AM

Just found it on YouTube. That's the first part.
