its more likely to relate to a task they are going to be set

Why send a martial artist, kickboxer in saying they are going to 'fight for the final' ?

Are they going to beat everyone up, and the last person standing wins?

Well yea, I didnt seriously think they were going to send someone in to actually beat people up.

But I dont see how 'fight for the final' relates to someone who fights for a living/hobby. It's not really relevant.

It suggests they are actually going to fight to me, which suggests a task
