Simons gone mental
What has happened to Simon, "The best performance of the season" and no he wasn't talking about Rebbeca but the mediocre Cher, not bad but not great either, seems to be the pet of the X factor this year.
Another ole chestnut of simons this year is "liked you last week, loved you this week" the man is getting very predictable, i used to value his opinion and he often said what was going through my head about performances but not anymore, he is starting to annoy me. The talent on the show never get the comments mini-cheryl gets which in my opinion is unfair and pure favourtism and blatant favourtism by Cheryl, will Cher the chav be known in 10 years i think not, will Rebecca, a good chance yes. It's time the judges were fair and tell it how it is and forget the sniff of money all the time and one more thing treat all guests equally, that was really rude of danni and cheryl. |
'look'... Simon lost all his credibility when he kept Jedward over Lucie
crap last year.. even crapper this year.. |

He has also cooled his support for Aiden too and that is likely because Ms Cole is really getting at Aiden now too. Simon although he gets his digs at Cheryl in parts, he is well aware of the controversy as to her choices this year.
I am near sure the wild cards were done to save face for Cheryl.but then Gamu could not be in the shows anyway. Since then he has backed to the hilt her choice of Cher and every week except for this week,I have near reached for the sick bucket at his overhyping of Cher. I too am tired of the liked you last week, loved you this week quote, its like he has lost his originality this year and I suspect it is partly to keep Ms Cole happier. No one else. |
Well, JEDWARD are still massively in demand but where's Lucie,he made the right choice then.

I completely agree with you OP.. Simon, to me has always been the speaker of sense, and I've always said, whether people like it or not, his opinion is usually bang on. But he is getting repetitive with his comments and I just CANNOT believe he told Cher that not only did she do the best performance of the night, but of "the whole season"??!! WTF? I don't think so Simon!
I actually don'tknow what he's playing at where Cher's concerned. I suspect after all the bad publicity regarding her mental health during Bootcamp etc, he did'nt want a Susan Boyle type breakdown again, plus the media circus to go along with it.. I think he's just trying to keep her sweet. (Probably Cheryl aswell) |
I think it was one of the best performances of the series so far, She's far from the best singer but she went against everyone's expectations and hit it out of the park, she's got stage presence and that's something that can't be taught. It'll be her or Rebecca who wins it I think.
As for simon he's been playing a character for years, I don't really take him seriously. |
I agree with everything you said OP. Yes she was good last week, I think the reason I liked it so much was because she wasn't utterly crap as usual but as you said Rebecca was a league ahead of her. I no longer listen to anything Simon says, tbh Dannii and even Louis are more honest than he is at this stage.

it is about demand and interest. No one wants to read a story about Lucie. fact. |
I'm not sure $imon has to do anything keep Cheryl sweet.. she's in luvvv and has him right in her sights already IMO.. I reckon he is trying to keep her sweet with CHERyl junior though... It's like one big happy CHERyl family already :joker:

aiden should not smile or pounce around the stage with gimmicks, thats not the kind of performer he is, maybe he is too indie for xfactor, but i guess michael stipe or jim morrison would have never got through the audition stage and i am not comparing them to aiden just intense performances, as i am on it Cherly did compare one direction to the beatles and aiden to elvis, cheryl **** and go read an Encyclopedia of rock because you don't have a clue .....

Over the last few years Simon has been a bit softer but that is not the problem here. He can be 'soft' but still tell the hard truth, be accurate and break the bad news. No, this problem is something else. This is Simon seeing (correctly) a perfect recording artist payday in Cher. A perfect teen-pop hit-maker using a studio and some audio-engineering wizards and some slick music videos. OK. But instead of Simon (as we knew him) just blatantly stating this upfront we get Simon trying to convince us that she is truly magnificent and good in her own right in this competition. Ugh. Honestly, IF Simon just said all this outright "Cher, you are not great live on-stage but I hope you stay because you are a perfect recording artist" OK then! I mean I'd respect Simon for just saying that and think it would actually bolster Cher. But instead we all have to pretend along with this? Like we don't know or what? I WOULD expect this from the other judges but always Simon was the 'reality check' and balance. Now what? |

So to the choice of Simon choosing JEDWARD or Lucie, it is clear, especially from your post too, that he made the right choice then to save JEDWARD over her. |

To be fair, I did think that Cher was better this week. But this 'best thing since sliced bread' routine by Cowell is ridiculous.

People forget that Simon knows what he is talking about. He knows who will sell records and who wouldn't its not just about who has the best vocals anymore.
