Emmerdale inferno! Main Street to go up in flames!

Tragedy strikes Emmerdale this January when fire tears through the village, killing at least two people.

The locals watch in horror as the flames engulf a row of cottages on Main Street and threaten the lives of some of the show’s best-loved characters.

But viewers will be kept waiting until the explosive episode airs to find out who makes it out alive.

Betty is left fighting for her life when the fire hits Keepers Cottage, while Gennie and Katie's lives are at risk inside Victoria Cottage.

Brenda and Terry could be in danger when their home is caught up in the inferno. And Viv is alone in the flat drowning her sorrows after Terry has rejected her advances. Will she get out before it’s too late?

Lives will be lost and families will be destroyed in some of the show’s most spectacular scenes ever.

As the villagers mourn the loss of their neighbours they’re horrified to learn that this was no accident...

How long can the arsonist hide their guilt?

Series producer Gavin Blyth says: "This is going to be one of the most dramatic and tragic events ever to rock Emmerdale and no-one will be untouched by the fire’s devastating consequences.

"The whole village will be thrown together for these gripping and heart-wrenching episodes which will launch us into an unmissable 2011."

Emmerdale has been filmed in HD for ages now, it just hasn't been broadcast as such (not sure why). All the sets are already up to scratch, it just seems they wanted to jump on Corrie's bandwagon! :joker:

I must admit, I have sneakly saw some Emmerdale in the Kitchen when eating, and it isn't that bad (I did not just say that) - so why are the writers so dependent on some huge explosion/fire etc?

Because the show has quite a bit of deadwood, I wouldn't be sad to see the end of the Barton family

Which ones are the Bartons? Is that the farmers with the drugged up daughter? If so I liked them!

That's the ones, I liked them at first, but they have overshadowed Emmerdale's original family (The Sugdens) I used to like Emmerdale a lot, but the new producer has brought in too many new characters at once, that's okay with new viewers, but it's alienated the old audience

Kerry 23-11-2010 11:54 PM

I think an oldie might go. Maybe Pearl

Well I'm an old audience member and it hasn't alienated me.

Change is neccessary in soaps to keep things fresh.

Scarlett. 24-11-2010 11:07 AM

Yeah, but they've ignored a giant bunch of the old cast and focused on Aaron, Aaron and ummmm Aaron, also the Wyldes and the Bartons

Tom4784 24-11-2010 01:26 PM

ITV soaps doing what they do best, copying other soaps. It's incredibly blatant this time as well.

Scarlett. 24-11-2010 02:24 PM

"ITV Soaps"? Didn't EE just do a level crossing scene after Emmerdale did theirs earlier this year?

Patrick 24-11-2010 02:32 PM

I Hope they still loose out in the BSA's for 'Biggest Scene' or something to Corrie or Eastenders just to piss that bastard from the other night off.

Different outcomes, different storylines ETC. The fact the whole street goes alight and two people are gonna die is blatantly the same as HO's fire storyline. They've even copied inbetween Corrie & Emmerdale in the past, it's like a snake that's eating itself.

Smithy 24-11-2010 08:29 PM

That EE crossing scene was a total flop, the car didn't even get hit :bored:

Tom4784 24-11-2010 08:32 PM

The EE crossing scene wasn't built up to be a big storyline like it was in Emmerdale, it was an inconsequential cliff hanger.

Smithy 24-11-2010 08:34 PM

No, but it was in papers and stuff as some big stunt, like, whose going to escape !!!

Then they just drove on -_-

I do have to say it does resemble Hollyoaks storyline :p but I remember Gavin Blyth mentioning there would be two big tragedies in Emmerdale this winter (around July)
