Stealing someones girlfriend/boyfriend- immoral or survival of the fittest?

Something that has been annoying me for a bit, is it immoral to steal someone elses partner or is it just bad luck? Should you follow head or heart?

Tom4784 09-12-2010 03:59 PM

I think that if someone's in a position where they can be 'stolen' then the relationship they're currently in is pretty much dead in the water without any outside influence.

Locke. 09-12-2010 04:00 PM

My opinion changed on it when I was sort of part of it.

Went from 'immoral' to 'survival of the fittest'

Princess 09-12-2010 04:00 PM

I don't think anyone should cheat,I think if you're in a relationship and you want to be someone else, then break up with the person you're with. A lot easier said than done a lot of the time,I know.

Pyramid* 09-12-2010 04:00 PM

You can't steal someone who doesn't want to be 'stolen'.

Niamh. 09-12-2010 04:01 PM

I think it's immoral but obviously the boyfriend/Girlfriend is much more immoral. Though anyone who gets a stolen partner will most likely suffer the same fate in the future........

Totally agree. Never have been able to fathom this out or understand.... if they ever cared for the person at all.... why hurt them by cheating - just break it off then do whatever you want with whomever you want.

Completely baffles me, it really does.

Always be wary of that, I agree. If the 'partner' can cheat on their other 'partner' to be with you, they have the ability to do exactly the same to you....

Hate it when people say " I'd never do that it's wrong " you'll never know if you would or wouldn't until your in that position.. likely most people would

Jords 09-12-2010 04:04 PM

Immoral.

What the **** does it have with survival of the fittest? Bloody hell.

I think people know their own personalities/morals to be well able to answer this Andy.

I'm kind of leaning towards knowing its wrong but I'll probably do it anyway. In the situation atm, did mean to put it in general chat but oh well, and just unsure if to back off or go for it. Makes it a bit worse that I know him & get on dead well but thats life

Yeah you can but you may need Rohypnol and a vehicle to transport them in. If you cant obtain rohypnol a 16 oz ball pein hammer is a more than satisfactory alternative.

Stacey. 09-12-2010 04:06 PM

You should always follow your heart, cus that's what you want. And you should go for it, you don't know how it could turn it until you go for it, and if it's what you want then you should.

I thought you have a pregnant girlfriend?:conf: and the fact that your friends with the guy is even more wrong:nono:

Speak for yourself and not 'most people'. People are individuals and have their own morals, they know their own self more than you.

Anyone who's been on the receiving end of cheating knows how terrible it is: and I for one have and would never put anyone I had ever cared for, through that. It's selfishness personified.

no and no. not going into detail though but its not Jeremy Kyle-ish.

Jack_ 09-12-2010 04:09 PM

Good question. I guess it sorta all boils down to who likes/loves the person more [i.e if the person you're stealing from is totally in love with the person, but you just like them or vice versa], in which case if you think you like them less than the other person you should probably do the moral thing and leave them to it, but again gauging something like that would be extremely difficult. And if it did turn out that you were both totally in love with the person then it makes matters a whole lot worse I suppose. So I'm torn. Half of me says it's immoral, the other half says some things really are just too hard to resist...

saying you're following your heart is just another word for being selfish.

I think those who 'follow their heart' find out that what their heart said, find it lasts a few months until they decide to 'follow their heart' again.

Not really.. if you didn't ever follow your heart you'd never do exactly what you wanted. If that means being selfish then whatever.. everything you do should be for yourself.

Tom4784 09-12-2010 04:14 PM

I suppose it depends on what your definition of 'stealing' someone is, do you consider it cheating on someone or leaving your partner for someone else or both? You can't help it if you fall for someone but you can help yourself cheating. If it was me I'd just break up with the person I'm with before anything happened as if I was looking it would obviously mean I'm not happy. It'd be less of a headache then cheating.

Mr XcX 09-12-2010 04:15 PM

Survival of the fittest.

Yeah same, if you like someone you can't really do much about it.. it's not like you can turn a button off and that's that.. if it's wrong then so be it
