X Factor finalist Cher Lloyd has apparently signed a deal to join Jay-Z’s record label, according to a report.

"According to reports" she has been signed and, if true, good news as hopefully she'll disappear to the States - I'm pretty sure, however, that Jay-Z would have bigger and better talent on his own doorstep!

:amazed:

Ach good luck to her - she's been given the opportunity - let's see how she actually does - being given a recording contract and actually being successful are 2 entirely different things.

I thought this particular snippet was quite telling:-

Quote:

An insider told The Sun that Black Eyed Peas star Will.i.am missed out on the opportunity to sign-up the Malvern lass.
Given that he has been in such 'close' contact with her, that he's been so over-awed by her 'talent' and had direct contact with her, why or how he could 'miss out to sign her up' baffles me!! Makes you wonder why he wasn't prepared to put his money where his mouth is eh!

Perhaps more interested in impressing Cheryl ...... rather than being interested in Mini Me??? !!!

Not believing it til Jay-Z or his label announce it, or Cher does. Too many reports saying different things the last couple of weeks

Smithy 30-12-2010 03:20 PM

"According to reports"

She's been signed by every label going these past few weeks

bbfan1991 30-12-2010 04:14 PM

I agree with Locke, better waiting for confirmation but I hope she hasn't signed to SyCo, they have absolutely no idea what to do with her and thats because she's a rap artist and not the usual pop one they go for.

Matt, Rebecca and One Direction are heading out to America soon to start recording material so good for them too:).

MrWong 30-12-2010 04:23 PM

What’s all this waffle about Will missing out on a deal to sign Cher? Isn’t she under contract with Syco? Therefore she won’t be able to sign with anyone, yet.

Why would anyone be baffled by this and then try and twist it to make out Will lost out on signing Cher cause he’s not arsed about her really and only wants to impress Cheryl? Talk about a massive leap

Will’s put his money where his mouth is by producing a song with Cher. That’s the best he can do at this time with all the restrictions of her Syco contract.

The Jay Z story sounds like waffle too. “An insider said” Meh, doubtful.

Louis Walsh managed to get Jedward out of their one year SyCo recording deal to sign for Universal Ireland, who are happy with they are doing in terms of profit, marketability etc so all it takes is some clever negotiations from both sides. Will.I.Am was meant to be signed up as Creative Director if Cher has signed up to SyCo because their expertise is in pop music mainly where as you would need someone with Rap/R&B experience to work with Cher Lloyd...

The papers are saying that the three other finalists have signed up to SyCo too, so far theres been no proof although there was a retweet of something concerning that on their Twitter page...

I watched most of the WillIAm Cher duet from behind a cushion. 'Twas dire! I think you're right, Will didn't seem remotely impressed by the quivering wreck that Cher was at judge's houses and was almost forced at gunpoint to say nice things about her by Cheron when they 'performed' on the lives. As for signing with JayZ, didn't Lady Sov sign with JayZ?........Who now?......

Jordan. 30-12-2010 07:29 PM

Hopefully this is true. I think its pretty much guaranteed she'll have some label.

Inferring Will doesn’t really like Cher and that's why he hasn’t signed her is utter sh!te and i’ll comment on it if i like.

It' your opinion that it's ****e.....it happens to be mine that it's about the most perceptive thing on this thread. He's as dull as dishwater really, when you take off the ridiculous specs and daft clothes, and about as impressive without autotune as the Wizard of Oz without all the smoke and mirrors. I think Will's floating in Cheryl's orbit and knows well that a skinny white girl wouldn't last five minutes in front of hardcore music critics. But that's just my opinion.

Zippy 30-12-2010 08:43 PM

Why wouldn't Jay z sign her? She's created a huge global buzz recently(more than the other XF contestants combined) and has a huge potential fanbase...worldwide.

It would be stupid not to snatch her up, frankly.

His skills are that of a producer, i couldn’t give a stuff what clothes or specs he wears.

So Will made a record with Cher because he doesn’t like her? Yes, that makes perfect sense.

I've deleted some posts from the thread.

Funny you should mention Lady Sov - in many ways, Cher reminds me of Lady Sov with the whole 'big woman, bad attitude' thing going on with very limited 'talent' - as you say Patsy, it didn't exactly lead to instant success - in fact - I recall when she went into CBB, very few people had heard of her. I do think that's the route Cher will be going down. I could of course be wrong, but I really don't think so. Time will tell eh!

But wasn't she (heavily) booed at a Tinie Tempah gig? I don't think that was necessary, by the way. She's very young and may learn a bit of cop on and humility as she gets older. Chevron didn't do her any favours making her out to be the second coming as she pranced about in harem pants, gurning and churning out bad 80s covers. She's never going to appeal to me but it seems to me like her target audience aren't that fond of her either?
Maybe it's the fixed maniacal expression - it certainly puts me off, she looks permanently on the verge of violence. I'm concerned for anyone who finds that an attractive look.

Who knows how she would have done in the States the poor girl suffered a dark period of depression and self harm to the point of attempting to take her own life.

It’s so easy to mock Lady Sov’s lack of success in the States hey.

All I know of Lady Sov is what I saw in CBB. Eww. What a horrid little narcissistic brat. That's not mocking, that's my perception and if she's going to opt for a career in the limelight she's begging for people's views of her. By going on CBB she's practically on bended knee asking for approval. Acting like she did - she's not going to get much of it. I'm sad to hear she suffered with depression but, surely, if that's the case, the last place on earth she should be is in the limelight? Is there no-one close to her who can call her aside and have a word.......which brings us nicely back to Cher. I personally tend to blame Smug and Smugger for her attitude, but surely there's someone in her family/circle of friends, who had the balls to tell her she was coming across as an Asbo waiting to happen?

The thread is about Cher, the forum is about X Factor. I'm plenty 'clued up' on both. From the little I've heard, she sounds like an even more pained strangled cat than Cher does. So no, I don't think I'll be exposing my delicate eardrums to any more of that nonsense. Thanks, though.

InOne 31-12-2010 11:56 AM

Sov is an annoying little rat.

Awww....are we pulling on the old 'shes had a hard life' sob story as an excuse for not being successful in the States (not that she had any real big success in the UK either for that matter).

A hell of a lot of people have very hard lives, with very troubled, difficult times and much trauma - with or without depression and with or without suicide attempts - Having a sob story doesn't make a person talented - and that includes Sov. Sad? Of course it is. Affected her success - debatable - talent is either there or it isn't. I favour the latter.

However, the thread has digressed a little only on the premise that there was comparison to Sov who Jay Z had signed and had very limited success with - and, from what I read from Patsy's posts, Pasty was offering her thoughts that she felt that Cher signing with Jay Z did not guarantee Cher any success - Sov being used as an example.

Talent has to be the overriding factor at some stage and she has very limited talent -Cher (but feel free to throw Sov into that same bracket, it's all the same to me). I'm sure you won't agree, but hey: that's my opinion on the matter.
