2009 - The infamous Kayne West and Taylor Swift incident, great performance from GaGa, Pink, Beyonce and Muse but the show is stolen by the first performance of Empire State of Mind. My favourite VMAs!!!
2010 - GaGa and her meat dress, Kanye West kicks off his epic comeback.
2011 - God knows

I hope she does too, I think it's her next US single. Would love for her to get another Brits type of reaction from her performance.

It's common knowledge now that Gaga will be performing her new single Yoü and I at the 2011 ceremony.

Well MTV haven't confirmed it which is strange because youd think theyd drop her name with the people they have announced today

And why the fck does Gaga have to be at every award show? She's only gonna get upstaged by Adele. Adele has made this year about vocals and not gimmicks.

Adele does not deserve all the noms for her RITD video, it's a great song and nobody can deny she has a great voice but great video? That it is not, all she does is sit in a chair for 3 minutes.

Many great videos don't involve the artist doing much in them. Theyre not actors, just miming.

But yeah, I agree its not an amazing video. Just incredibly successful so I guess thats why its included. All music award shows will want to acknowledge Adele because she has owned 2011.

Yes, thats the Brits..... where vocals are the focus of the show, the VMA's are all about the videos of the year and having big extravagant OTT performances.

VMA have never really been about videos
i think they mention the word about 5 times in the whole 2 hours
its just away to make the awards specific to mtv

The Best Video catagory isnt really about the 'video'. If the song is **** but the video is amazing, it still wont get nominated. The song has to be good, regardless of the video.

but you can stick a simple classy performance in there and it will still grab attention. More so because it will be different and a nice relief. Sometimes artists try too hard to impress with OTT nonsense. And no, I don't just mean Gaga. She's actually good when she keeps it simple.
