Some medical help please
Have looked on NHS direct but cannot seem to find out my problem.
Went to bed on Friday night and felt absolutely fine. Then on Saturday morning when I got up I felt very different. I was very lightheaded and my body felt very weak. I was cold and shivery and quite dizzy when I walked. I'd lost all of my appetite which is strange for me as I generally feel hungry all of the time. I went out with mates, still feeling very dizzy although it seemed to get a little bit better when I was not focusing on it. Came home on Saturday evening and took a couple of paracetamol to see what it would do, lay down on the sofa and after about half an hour the cold shiver I was feeling turned into a really hot sweat - my hair felt like I'd just been on a really long jog somewhere. However it did make me feel a lot better. Woke up this morning and felt the same as I did the morning before although today I've been having a kind of 'impulse' cough that I can't control... it is worse when I breathe in. I took some ibuprofen this evening to see if it did a better job than the paracetamol but I can already feel the heat start travelling through my body. It starts at the top of my head and I can feel it working it's way down. Am just in a bit of a pickle as I've never experienced these symptoms together before but don't want to waste the doctors time if it's nothing too serious. Thanks :) |
See your doc. Sounds a bit like a bug/fever but either way..... If you're worried call NHS Direct. The site is crap but their service via phone is absolutely brilliant

Could be sign of flu or virus, plenty of liquids and make sure you are passing urine, if not sign of dehydration. Lucozade is good one full of nutrients I survived when really ill for nearly seven weeks weeks on Lucozade.

Have you a thermometer to take your temperature with, but as Kerry said, ring NHS Direct, they are really good, a nurse or Doc will talk to you if they feel it's necessary and they could even send a Doctor to check you over.
Try to have water to keep yourself hydrated., just sipping it,if you feel sickly but don't waste time, it is likely little to worry about but let the professional people find out for you. Really though ring NHS Direct now, they will help ease your anxieties and get you the advice and likely treatment you need. |
Have lots of Water/Drink :)

Will give them a ring I think. Got a feeling it might be a virus but not sure. I've been working 37+ hours a week over summer and before that was doing 30+ hours a week at college and 15+ hours a week at work and just had my first proper week off without going on holiday with the family and 4 brothers and sisters [not exactly a relaxing holiday!!] or still having to go to college since I started working where I do 23 months ago. It's probably my body finding it strange having all of this relaxation time and not actually doing anything and it's caught up with me

Sometimes resting from work actually can lead to being ill, your body catches up and you get ill
