Ratings Slid For 4th Day,CBB slips down to 2.2m

Quote:

Celebrity Big Brother shed 500,000 viewers for a second consecutive episode yesterday, rating with 2.2 million viewers.

Yesterday’s highlights show pulled in 2.2m (12%) at 10pm over one hour on Channel 5.

This was the smallest audience for a Sunday episode in Celebrity Big Brother’s history, with the previous lowest rating for a Sunday show being 2.6m (10%) for the final Sunday highlights show of CBB6 in 2009. Yesterday’s overnight rating was also lower than all but one Sunday rating from last year’s summer series
Im really getting worried.... this is the fourth night in a row, and it was a sunday too. :bawling::bawling:

Probably because of the later start time of 10pm?

Ryan. 22-08-2011 10:41 AM

Awww. Hopefully it stays around that then or rises a wee bit.

Red Moon 22-08-2011 10:49 AM

Early days yet. It still might have a little bit more of a way to fall before it settles down but the later start wouldn't have helped nor all the chopping and changing of the times it is on. Hopefully with the show getting more interesting and the press coverage that might generate we might even see a little rise soon and that fall won't occur. All I know is that the people I talk to that are viewers rather than big fans are loving the show.

ElProximo 22-08-2011 11:01 AM

It's not going to get better unless they can gamble big money on a few more big names (like a Sheen) and get some physical violence in there.

This is even worse for the regular season since (in this case) one is just kind of rolling into the other.

Possibly wrap-up CBB asap and delay launch of the regular season for a few weeks or even months?
'relaunch the relaunch' and maybe at the most opportune time (least competition) and hope it grabs (and keeps) traction?

happybbfan 22-08-2011 11:08 AM

CBB has only just started and should be creating a buzz for viewers no matter what time the highlights are on.If viewers really wanted to watch they would have

Smithy 22-08-2011 11:08 AM

It was a sunday and at 10pm

MTVN 22-08-2011 11:09 AM

Bit of a shame, will probably end up dropping a bit more and the series will average about 1.5m or something like that

Saph 22-08-2011 11:09 AM

is CBB usually less viewed than BB or the other way around?

joeysteele 22-08-2011 11:12 AM

It will slip and rise for eviction night as with previous BBs, over 2 million is still a success, many people believed that wouldn't be reached even on opening night, let alone midway through the first week.

Probably. Plus SATC.

Ryan. 22-08-2011 11:57 AM

I think the series average will be around 2.5 million which is very respectable.

Marc 22-08-2011 11:58 AM

That's because it's pretty bad.

Black Dagger 22-08-2011 12:04 PM

I still think they are respectable figures, did they beat C4 in that timeslot last night?

Red Moon 22-08-2011 12:33 PM

I was looking a bit deeper into this and looking at the percentage share rather than the numbers and although the rating are falling the drop is not as much as the pure figures suggest. It is more to do with less people watching TV on Sunday than on Saturday.

Here are the percentage audience share figures for the show so far:

22.13% Thursday (launch night)
14.75% Friday
12.10% Saturday
11.80% Sunday

Notice the percentage drop between Saturday and Sunday isn't that big, just 0.30%, but to put this all in context the normal percentage audience share for the same slot on Channel 5 is just 6.00%. The Show has effectiveness doubled their normal audience share.

CaudleHalbard 22-08-2011 12:49 PM

In Channel 5 terms it looks like a big success, so far.

That is partly due to the fact because more people watch TV over the winter than they do over the summer. It is one of the reasons why looking at the numbers doesn't give you the whole picture. Looking at the percentage share give you a idea to what is really going on.

bananarama 22-08-2011 12:57 PM

Ratings slipping. Not surprising. Sundays episode was the worst BB episode I have ever seen in all its years.

Mainly due to the maniac editing which has changed BB from a fly on the wall perception to a gimmicky documentry about a boring bunch of gits in an overly posh house.

The new editing of flashing brief images still pictures dreadful music background has reduced it to a documentry rather than a reality show. Bloody idiots is the only way to describe the policy makers that decided to crap on the original working format of editing.

Add to that the images of twins with freak hair styles behaving with the mental age of 2 year olds that can only attract viewers of a similar mental age then BB rating will plummet in to oblivion.......

CHANNEL FIVE GET A BLOODY REALITY CHECK before the main series begins........

karl100589 22-08-2011 02:29 PM

It could get worse as well going against the news on two Channels and Shooting Stars on BBC2

daniel-lewis-1985 22-08-2011 03:17 PM

I think Saturdays episode really put people off. It was soooooo boring and the editing would have been a shock to people.

I stuck with it but alot of people wont.

It has been quite boring so far but i am still enjoying it.

Fingers crossed it will pick up :)

Sophiee 22-08-2011 05:00 PM

it's not terrible, but it does need to pick up.
