Big Brother falls to a new low of just 1.4 million viewers

And a 6.4% share of the audience.

Bad. Very, very bad.

buckfast67uk 11-09-2011 09:08 AM

On a Saturday night? vs prime time BBC and ITV?

perspective please

joeysteele 11-09-2011 09:13 AM

It fell to 1.6 million last week too, you have to take figures on an average over the week.

Saturday,in all likelihood weekend nights were rarely great nights for BB anyway.

Kazakh 11-09-2011 09:26 AM

I watched the opening episode. Like many others I do not think I will return, dismal HMs and C5 flogging a dead horse, over a decade the format has gone from compulsory must see TV to freak show with not very interesting freaks.

Beastie 11-09-2011 09:36 AM

It's a shame because I enjoyed last night's episode. Rebeckah's bitchiness coming out of nowhere. So funny when she said to Aaron "I peed on a man". HAHAHAHA!

The ratings would go back up if we had live feed.....

Jake. 11-09-2011 09:41 AM

Source? I thought they got released later in the day

daniel-lewis-1985 11-09-2011 10:04 AM

I thought they would be lower. Not much of a drop from last week.

Saturday nights allways rate low.

I reckon the show will be back up to the 2million mark next week.

Jarrod 11-09-2011 10:11 AM

The show always drops on a Saturday, the Show gets 2m again on Sunday if not more. Many don't tune in because it's just highlights from the live shows ect

ILoveTRW 11-09-2011 10:11 AM

bb is so pathetic

Bad. Very, very bad.

Which is a shame, because it was the best first 'real' show (disregarding launch) for years I think.

I personally think the strategy of having CBB so close to it was a bad move, especially when it was as bad as this years was. The few people that I know that do still watch it were put off by the lack lustre past few weeks (which were all all so slick try hard but still just overall boring), the failed Americanisation of the format, and (yes) lack of live feed.

I am sure the word will spread as we go on,I am aleady re selling it to people I know are open to it based on that first 'real' show.

Jake. 11-09-2011 10:46 AM

But look at the ratings for the rest of the day on channel 5 XD

Patrick 11-09-2011 10:48 AM

:idc:

They should of carried on with the Celebrity series up until October - and then had BB12 in June 2012, FFS.

MeMyselfAndI 11-09-2011 10:50 AM

Patrick i doubt the celebrities would all agree to stay in for a month longer

God no... the other way around imo.

They shouldnt have bothered with CBB at all for this year, it was awful. Would have been cleverer to just launch the realshow and rebuild it's hardcore fanbase again.

Valdora 11-09-2011 11:15 AM

You have to remember that this is not a Summer show. The ratings will be higher for sure next Summer when it has little competition. Knowing Channel 4 though they will probally find some.

JohnnyBB 11-09-2011 12:14 PM

i expect these sort of numers right too the end now, the twist wasent enought too hook veiwers in the cast sort of reminds me of celeb hijack cast

Gillian-73 11-09-2011 12:18 PM

It was a saturday night ratings are always lower! shame because it was one of the best first eps in many a year! they should go back up again.

Black Dagger 11-09-2011 12:21 PM

Shame it got such low ratings, the dickhead haters will be out in their droves now laughing and raving... the show deserved much higher ratings and I hope they improve over the next few days, as long as it get's a average of about 2.2 million I don't think Desmond will care too much.

cub 11-09-2011 12:27 PM

It should pick up tonight. Last night was fierce for choice.

Lostie! 11-09-2011 12:35 PM

Why do people obsess over ratings?

I swear the people who stalk the ratings and make a new thread every time it falls a little have nothing to do with their days.

Tom4784 11-09-2011 12:35 PM

Those ratings are fine for C5. It was the only show all day that broke 1 million viewers. 1.4 million would be dismal for something like ITV or BBC but C5 is a lot more limited in it's viewership and as long as it can stay around the million mark then that's good especially if the audience watching is a young one as young audiences are like gold dust to advertisers.

The ratings for it's circumstances are fine. C5 will never get sky high viewers often since it's a lot more limited hen the main channels due to the fact that not everyone can get it. At the end of the day don't bother worrying about ratings if you don' know what they mean. The number may seem low but I bet it's in with C5's expectations.

Lewis. 11-09-2011 12:39 PM

I'm sure they are more than happy with those ratings. It would be awful if it was BBC or anything but it's quite a good number for channel 5 - you only have to compare it to their other shows and how they fared yesterday.
