Toms grand fathers funeral....

Wasnt he supposed to leave the house this week to attend?

Shasown 22-09-2011 12:42 PM

What costume do you reckon Big Brother will make him wear, Honey Monster, Teletubbies or a Disney one?

lime 22-09-2011 12:43 PM

I think he told the HM's Thursday so presumably today.

Patrick 22-09-2011 12:44 PM

I doubt we will even see him leaving the house.

I was just thinking about that this morning, surely the funeral would have been by now, & im sure Tom would like to have gone, i wonder why there been no mention of it.

Seeing as Walt Disney was a raving anti-semite, I'm going with that one because it would be a good conversation starter.

I have mixed opinions about this.
Obviously it goes without saying that he should be allowed to attend the funeral, but hes going to be checking the odds and everything once hes out...

I think he'll be more interested in laying his grandfather to rest than that. :conf:

I know what you are saying.
Of course he should go to his grandfather's funeral but he is going to have an unfair advantage over the other HM's as family and friends will tell him who the public like/dislike.

You never know Endemol may actually use a bit of common sense and have a production assistant/exceutive escort him at all times, bit like prison warders do with prisoners let out for family funerals etc.

Yeah, for things like that he will.

Beso 22-09-2011 02:06 PM

Maybe Tom will ask/asked everyone not to mention it to him.

Yeah I'd imagine that's what'll happen

Benjamin 22-09-2011 02:25 PM

Who honestly cares? It's his Grandfathers funeral, I'm sure that will be his main concern for the day.

Visage 22-09-2011 02:57 PM

It's kinda strange when you think about how BB works. They have no contact with the outside world and yet the right thing to do in this situation is let him attend this funeral.

Things will be set in place so he isn't compromised, yet surely they will allow him to hold/hug some family members and one of them could whisper in his ear "..Watch that bitch Rebeckah..blah blah blah..."

Things happen at funerals and someone might want to fill him in on the goings on in the house.

I think people will be far too concerned with saying goodbye respectfully to a family member than whispering stuff in anyone's ear.

Yes you're right, but it only takes one to drop the odd comment. There's every chance that someone at the funeral isn't grieving in the same way.

Having said this I guess BB could have a chat with Tom afterwards and make a point that he must not speak of anything he has learnt from outside the house.

Yeah, I'm sure they'll be able to work something out.

While the funeral may be his main concern for the day, you have to remember that he went into the house knowing his grandfather was ill and didnt have long left. That in itself seems a little callous.

It doesnt take the brains of a brown loaf to realise that even though the funeral will be at the forefront of everyones mind, all his friends and relatives at the funeral will know he is in the BB house, they may even have been watching the show.

Conversations at funerals are often awkward and people often change the subject quickly to less awkward subjects.

Seemingly innocent remarks like as "is that Rebeckah really as callous in there as the highlights show would have us believe?" or "We have'nt really seen a lot of you since you have been in, most of the coverage has been on ......" can give Tom an advantage that the other housemates dont have.

Over the few days after the funeral etc, you may see a change in Tom's attitude towards people as he replays those conversations in his mind.

Hopefully he won't come back

I'm sure he isn't going to just be released into the wild & allowed to socialize freely with his family. My guess would be that he will have very strict instructions & probably at least one chaperone that will keep an eye on what is going on.

Absolutely, no matter what though,if he wanted to go to the funeral he must be allowed to, you only get one chance to say final goodbyes at someones funeral.
That should override all else.
