Secret Story would never be on UK TV. Where did you get that mental idea from anyway?

Yep, thats why I did say many of you may already seen this, but I saw threads saying C5 wanted to axe it, and found this

Samuel. 29-12-2011 04:15 PM

Doesn't really mean anything. We know they'll be a summer Big Brother, beyond that though it doesn't look promising.

...why wouldn't it? It won't be around when Big Brother's on air, but it's obvious Endemol will shop it around once BB eventually does get axed

It's one of those programs that wouldn't work here. I know it's basically BB But yeah That's my opinion anyway. If it does, it does. But i just think it wouldn't work here.

Stu 29-12-2011 04:40 PM

Big Brother hasn't worked here for quite a long time. It's just us ****zos left watching it.

Secret Story will either air on another channel or it wont, it will be sold on its own merits. Its airing and possible success isnt dependant on the fate of Big Brother.

There is no chance of it getting cancelled, it's one of Channel 5's most popular shows if not the most popular, and they get about 13 weeks worth of content every year.

Jake. 30-12-2011 10:29 AM

Look at the amount of times CBB8 destroyed Channel 4 and even BBC2 (sometimes) in the ratings and.audience share. Channel 5 was getting over double the share than what it is currently. So why would it be quickly cancelled?

This ^^

Tom 30-12-2011 01:46 PM

Davina said it would run and run, 4 months later Channel 4 confirmed it was being axed.

Channel 5 will hardly say its going to be axed when they're just half way through their contract. I don't think Channel 5 will get rid of it completely though, I just think they'll drop the main series and have 2 celeb series per year

That was just the novely of BB being back though, plus the public love celebrity based reality shows. The audience fell off a cliff during BB12 and was regularly beaten by the other 4 channels. Even a crap rating series of Million Pound Drop did better than most evictions when head to head. The last remotely popular series of Big Brother was BB9. Nothing can be done to save main BB but the celebrity one probably has another 2 or 3 series left yet.

I agree, channel 5 arent going to axe the show anytime soon, apart from looking stupid, they wouldnt want to have spent so much money getting the show to just let it fizzle out after two years. IMO they should have a CBB every summer for 3-4 weeks, for 4 or 5 years, (similar time to im a celebrity, which gets inmpressive ratings for how long the shows being going) then bring back normal BB, when people will want it back again, but until then people will have the CBB to watch and they will have more money to get better celebs.

Don't get me wrong, I understand that BB12's rating were not great. But they still boosted Channel 5's audinece share. I'm not saying ratings and beating off the other ratings from other channels are not important, but truth is, look at how many viewers Channel 5 is getting a night, without Big Brother on. I fully expect this next CBB to reach the ratings of CBB8, maybe even top them. Also, BB13 may not suffer as much, as this time around, viewers have some breathing space. And with this Celeb series to have some livefeed, even more could be back for the summer (aslong as ratings for the small live feed are high enough, that is).

I agree, we're gonna have to watch the **** out of that hours LF

Well unless you have a BARB box that measures ratings all that watching will get you nowhere.

Happy little chappie you are.

I read somewhere that revenue from advertising had increased by like 70% or something because of Big Brother?

Last night on C5:

World's Strongest Man- 1.08m
The Mentalist: 1.29m

So more or less what BB was getting. In fact last nights flop show for C5 was Amy Childs BB spin off show that got 398,000 viewers. Channel 5 don't need Big Brother like Channel 4 needed it. I honestly can't see how they'll give it another series after this next one and its either going to air at a weird time of year again or right up against the Olympics/Diamond Jubilee/Euro 2012 which isn't going to help.
