Suggest a good UK holiday destination?
I'd like to take my son away for a few days in next school hols, want to stay in the UK, somewhere that's likely to have some sunshine, nice scenic walks, things to do and see. Not expensive. Not asking for much am I? :D
Any recommendations? |
wales? :3

New Forest..Devon..Cornwall..Derbyshire
..it depends where you live Kate..and how far you want to travel |
Cornwall/Devon is always banded about yet I've never been. Sounds good though if the weather is nice I would look into that
|
Forest Of Dean. Harry Potter was filmed there :amazed:

Cornwall and Devon are amazing. Warmest parts of the country, lots of great scenery, countryside, beaches and the moors. Wins hands down. Totnes is a good place to visit in Devon.

Yes, I would suggest Devon or Cornwall too. When you get there at the right time of year it's great. One hell of a drive though if you go by car.
|
Cornwall...Hayle Bay, Polzeath is a really good place to learn to surf and Newquay always has stuff going on
|
..what about Yorkshire Kate..or the Cotswolds
..oh and there's the Norfolk Broads..you and your son could have a few days on a boat |
If you want the weather, you really need to go down south. Avoid Southend and The Isle of Sheppey at all costs. Torquay looks nice. (Not Torbay). If you want scenic walks then the Lake District is good. Also many parts of Wales. Anglesey is really nice and quiet. It depends where you are situated and how far you want to travel.

West Wales is fab, especially a place called Barmouth (lots of holiday camps around there) right on the coast and in the Summer is usually scorching. Frequent holiday destination of mine growing up, lovely little town.

Butlins has everything you could want

Thanks for all the suggestions guys.
Down South's a fair way to travel, I live near Liverpool, but I don't know how long it would take on the train? Drawn towards Wales, particularly the Barmouth suggestion, sounds nice. Never been to the Lakes either, so maybe. Shaun, get the kettle on...... Jk. ;) And finally, Caitlin and Novo, I shall give your ideas a definite no. Basements are dark and creepy and the sun definitely doesn't shine out of anyone's back passage .... Reminds me of Allo Allo the comedy series .... They talked a lot about back passages on that, lol. |
