drought - could this be the solution ?

UK drought 17.4.12

forget Africa,
and the land where it is baking,
how can the UK be on drought,
is Michael Fish faking.
the UK is known for it,
its a odds on bet,
364 days of the years,
its guaranteed to be windy and wet.
is this happening,
do reservoirs have a lid,
or is there not enough,
do we need add more to the national grid.
we can only ever build,
housing and accommodating,
and our need for water,
well its part of life and our recreation.
who no's what's in store,
the weather is unpredictable and scam-in,
could it happen here,
where everything is dry and we are on famine.
i have to end positive,
and i wont mention the waste and the leak,
and if i was to predict flooding,
would you think i am a freak.
when it rains in we flood,
and when its dry we are on drought,
this is the UK weather,
this is nature, god emailed me, what its all about.

( after watching the news last night - i had this brain wave ? instead of building more housing why dont we dig a few more wholes and let them fill by the rain and it might help ease the water shortage :wavey:)

We live on an island surrounded by sea. Desalination... that's what we need.

Shamefully, that's true, we do flush our waste out to sea. Then that water from the sea, with all our waste in it, evaporates and eventually falls as rain... that fills the reservoirs... that supply our drinking water. The water is purified though, and so it would be during desalination.

It never fails to amaze me that desalination plants have been up and running for over 30 years in the Middle East.... yet here we are in the UK - and common sense never seems to prevail.

Remind me again how many BILLIONS of £s that are literally chucked down the drain Arista by our Government (regardless of party) on hair brained ideas / scroungers / waste of resources / bad fund managment etc.... - I could start a list but I'm sure that I don't have to.

Nope: every Party has (and has had) their part to play. No one party can do everything and to pretend otherwise is sheer folly.

That's the rub Arista.

waterhog 19-04-2012 09:59 PM

and thats why none of them are worth voting for - none of them stick to what they say and none can give the solution - i got to go i left the bath on 18 hours ago and my roof is down.

Bojangles 20-04-2012 01:19 PM

We would need to build desalination plants. Then store the water in underground reservoirs to stop evaporation.
If the water companies just looked after what we have, there wouldn't be any need.Burst pipes etc.

waterhog 22-04-2012 10:40 AM

bojangles - dont worry we are now due a month of rain and we are going to flood - let that pass and i am sure 1 week after we will be on a new more server drout again.
