Oh god Again.

http://www.dailystar.co.uk/news/view...-NEW-RACE-ROW/ I think it's pathetic I don't see how scotts comment was racist.

Jamie. 20-07-2012 01:48 PM

I found it extremely racist.
They were laughing at the fact Deana eats with her hands which is extremely, extremely racist.

Livia 20-07-2012 01:55 PM

I think the people who don't get it, will never get it. Thank God they are in the minority.

But TRUE

Jords 20-07-2012 04:21 PM

It was offensive but not racist. Not just Indians eat with their hands at the end of the day.

canucksgirl 20-07-2012 04:37 PM

It's ignorant.

Indeed.

Vanessa 20-07-2012 04:48 PM

What did they say? Indian people do eat with their hands. How is that a racist comment? :conf:

Not all Indians do, therefore it was stereotypical which is why Scott got a warning because it could offend Indian viewers.

Ashleigh's comment 'wanid to giv her a ****ing spoon' was ignorant, and laughing about it with Scott was deemed insulting and singling her out which is why she got a warning.

Very fair and Id agree that it wasnt meant in a very malicious away.

I don't think that it was a racist comment either, but I'm okay with the fact that they got a warning for it. I don't think it was in a malicious way, but it was ignorant to say, "they eat with their hands" as not all people of any race do things exactly the same.

I don't think Scott meant it as an offence. Maybe it was a joke that went too far? :)

Angus 20-07-2012 05:14 PM

armand.kay 20-07-2012 05:15 PM

Me too. I eat chicken with my hands. I think it's normal.

joeysteele 20-07-2012 05:17 PM

I don't see it as a racist comment really,I have a good many Asian friends who saw it and they weren't in the least offended.
In fact a fair few of them don't even like Deana herself very much either to be honest.

It seems everyone in the house has to tread on eggshells around Deana but she can state without any comeback at all that all men are or will be cheaters.

Exactly, but if Sara or any other woman had said what Deana said, she would be slated on here

Well that's the whole point, they were trying to say it's an Indian thing.

Is the show trying to make Deana the new Shilpa Shetty? It's the only explanation i have for what is going on. :suspect:
