Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes

http://media1.shopto.net/shoptonews/...40464-mgsz.jpg

Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes has been revealed by Hideo Kojima.

The franchise boss unveiled the new title during a 25th anniversary event in Japan and although it was mean't to be kept secret by those attending, that didn't last too long.

"Well other people are talking about it so... next Metal Gear shown, and it looks *******ing HOT," one user wrote on twitter.

"Snake crawled, avoiding searchlights, killed guard, rode jeep, called in helicopter for evac," said another. "Sounds like Metal Gear, but the scale & atmosphere... Wow."

Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes is an open-world game which uses the new Fox Engine. The game was apparently seen using a standard spec PC and judging by the comments above, it seems like the audience was certainly impressed by what they saw.

No details have been revealed as to what format the game will eventually appear on or when it'll appear, but we'll no doubt find out more in the near future.

Thats because people are used to using the Metal Gear Solid name lol, some sites even call Rising, Metal Gear Solid Rising xD Though there does seem to be some general confusion about the name (both the MG bit and the Ground Zeroes bit lol), so who knows, though it'd make sense to change the name as it wont be the traditional style of MGS

I think I'll need to see it in action before I get excited. They should put Solid Snake to bed though, MGS4 was a perfect farewell to his character.

So, Ground Zeros is in fact MGSV, but...so is Phantom Pain

Tom4784 28-03-2013 12:05 PM

What I said before still stands really, they should put Snake and Big Boss to rest and start fresh with someone new.

It does actually sound like Kojima wants this to be a new chapter in the franchise, which he cited as the reason for dropping David Hayter (to be fair, David Hayter didn't play the older version of Big Boss in the first place).

Apparently BOTH games will be quite open world too. Part of me is wondering if it is actually Big Boss that we will be playing.

Scarlett. 05-11-2013 11:49 AM

In a press release sent to VG247 today, Kojima said of the ties between both games, “The advanced capabilities of the FOX Engine have allowed me to tell the new story in a new way. There will be a significant difference in what Metal Gear Solid : The Phantom Pain brings to the series, so we want to ease players into the new open world environment and its potential. As such,Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes has been designed to introduce key elements, allowing them to fully benefit from all that the new game will offer.”

Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes will launch Spring 2014 on PS3 and Xbox 360 as a boxed release at £29.99, while digital versions will cost £19.99., while PS4 and Xbox One digital versions come in at £29.99.

According to the release, Ground Zeroes, “charts a rescue mission as users infiltrate a Cuban prison camp, and sets in motion a series of events that culminate in the stunning plotlines of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.”

Excited?

The official press release
Quote:

METAL GEAR SOLID V: GROUND ZEROES features new advances made possible by Kojima Productions' FOX Engine, such as radical new game design, day and night cycles, and weather conditions that will all dynamically affect gameplay. The missions are designed to ease players into the new control and gameplay advances that will be an integral part of METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN.

The METAL GEAR SOLID V: GROUND ZEROES storyline follows the series' hero, Big Boss, as he infiltrates a remote Cuban prison camp on a rescue mission, all while trying to remain undetected. Explosive plot lines develop quickly as he finds himself on behind enemy lines with little options for help.

"The advanced capabilities of the FOX Engine are allowing me to express the story of METAL GEAR SOLID in a new way," explained Hideo Kojima, Creator of the METAL GEAR SOLID series, and head of Kojima Productions. "There will be a significant difference in what METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN brings to the series, so we want to ease players into the new open world environment and its potential, allowing them to fully benefit from all that the new game offers. As such, METAL GEAR SOLID V: GROUND ZEROES has been designed to introduce key elements, while setting up the events of METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN."

METAL GEAR SOLID V: GROUND ZEROES will be released in Spring 2014 on PlayStation®3, PlayStation®4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One systems. The game will be available in retail stores nationwide on current generation systems for the MSRP of $29.99 or via download for $19.99. For PlayStation®4 and Xbox One, the game can be downloaded for $29.99 suggested retail price.
I was hoping that it'd be part of MGS V, but at the same time, I cant wait to play some new MGS so soon.

I had a go at cross playing with Assassin's Creed IV, it worked perfectly, only thing is, its weird getting used to using the back touchpad as R2 + L2, lol.

I want this NOW

Scarlett. 23-01-2014 09:36 PM

I hear it's only going to be quite short, though with it being an open world, I'm guessing you can make your own fun, lol.

This months Game Informer article, apparently the main story in GZ is only 2 hours long (not including side stuff). It's probably worth just getting the PS3/Xbox 360 downloadable version for £20, since I reckon Ground Zeroes will be packaged together with The Phantom Pain anyway. I'll probably get the £30 next gen version, because I dont mind, lol.
