What's your IQ?

If you've ever done an IQ test what were the results?

We did one today in class and it told me I was moderately disabled lol with a score of 77, I didn't take it seriously, I wish I had tbh, think I could have done much better.

Niamh. 04-02-2013 07:15 PM

I usually get between 127 and 132 in those, I've only ever done online ones though, don't know how accurate they are

Munchkins 04-02-2013 07:17 PM

I'm supposedly very clever  i get A's in everything :p, but i have literally no common sense :(

That's all ours was, our tutor said most of them are pretty inaccurate. I want to take a real one now.

Saph 04-02-2013 07:24 PM

I'm not very book smart but i'm knowledgeable about things such as celebrity culture and fashion.

when you have google your a genius!.
there are a lot of very clever people full of useless imformation.

Shaun 04-02-2013 07:29 PM

Online ones are usually ridiculously unreliable. And 77 isn't that bad even if it were a true score :p 95% of the population are between 70 and 130.

:laugh2:

I'm gonna look for an online test.

GypsyGoth 04-02-2013 09:05 PM

Ok, here's one, not sure how good it is though

I got 117

Livia 04-02-2013 09:35 PM

Unless you're doing a supervised Mensa IQ test it doesn't really mean anything. And even then the jury's out.

Redway 04-02-2013 10:12 PM

What Livia said. I've done standardised tests in school, though, and got 126/127, which is supposed to be high but not exceptional or anything.

Jake. 04-02-2013 10:14 PM

Wouldn't want to find out

Not very accurate, I know my IQ to be 149 and that test gave me a score of 160.

Redway 04-02-2013 10:27 PM

Genuine IQ scores have to be taken with a pinch of salt anyway. I think you have to form a confidence band or something so your real score could be five or ten points higher or lower. They're only supposed to give a rough estimate.

Actually I agree, plus the size of the confidence interval is probably a lot larger for extreme scores.

Yeah, extreme cases tend to be pulled back towards the average. So if you get a very low score (70-), they'll add a lot of points and if you get a very high score (120/130+), they tend to subtract a lot of points.

It's entirely symmetrical for average scores based around 100, so it's a bit uneven before and after that. Particularly in the event of extreme cases, as you say.
