Beyoncé as Mrs. Carter in H&M (New Song: Standing Under The Sun)

Z 25-04-2013 02:07 PM

The more I think about it, the more I think that Beyoncé has never truly delivered, musically. She is one of the best performers in the world, one of the best vocal talents and, now that she's grown up, seemingly one of the nicest celebrity personalities to boot. However... I really don't think she's ever produced the goods, musically. Crazy In Love might even be the only song of hers that I think has ever come close to being good. A lot of her songs are elevated by the music videos and most of them are just absolute filler. The song used in this advert is filler.

Shaun 25-04-2013 02:09 PM

ok greg let's just pretend that never happened you delusional little bitch

Z 25-04-2013 02:12 PM

I think she puts a lot of effort into everything she does but I think that covers up the fact her material isn't that good. Halo is stellar actually, I'll give her that. Crazy In Love and Halo are her only great songs in my opinion though. The rest of her singles are just kind of... there. I can't comment on her album tracks because I don't have any of her albums so this is purely based on singles, but I just think she puts a lot of bravado on to cover up for the fact the songs aren't all that good.

I love the tune, sounds very summery :amazed: it's not amazing though.. but i'll wait until I hear the full thing before making judgement.

Gstar 25-04-2013 02:51 PM

I love it

Vanessa 25-04-2013 02:59 PM

I think her voice is amazing. Listen is incredible! :worship:

I think I kinda agree, I love her and most of her music but I don't think she's had that one huge song that everyone's gonna remember her for, Britney, GaGa, Xtine etc all do

Saph 25-04-2013 03:30 PM

It sort of reminds me of the music from the fat guy from the first crash bandicoot game

Yeah this is exactly it. Beyoncé has been around for what, 15 years, and Destiny's Child managed to do it, but as a solo artist she's never delivered.

Niall 25-04-2013 05:01 PM

I quite like this. It sounds quite different from her other material. I just want to hear the new album all the more now. :amazed:

I think that Irreplaceable, Single Ladies, and Crazy In Love will all be pretty well remembered. Each of those were massive songs when they were released.

Shaun 25-04-2013 05:08 PM

Crazy in Love was like the biggest song of the noughties  it's been put in about 20495 'best songs of all time' lists (#118 in Rolling Stone).

I mean... you'd have a point... had she not headlines Glastonbury... done the Superbowl... it's not like she's lacking icon power.

*would add Halo, Sweet Dreams, (personally Run the World but I know why others don't), Countdown and obviously the Destiny's Child stuff to the songs Niall mentioned*

Saph 25-04-2013 05:11 PM

to the left to the left, everything you own in a box to the left

Saph 25-04-2013 05:12 PM

You're completely missing my point. She herself is an incredible performer, she has an incredible voice and she will go down as one of the best artists of our time. The actual material she has put her name to, though, is sub par. She makes the most of what she's got, as it were.

They're all good songs, but Single Ladies'll only be remembered for the video and Crazy in Love (was a good song) but I think people just think of it cause it had Jay in it

I know she's amazing and all that, but she's never had a song that shook things up like other artists have

Ninastar 25-04-2013 09:44 PM

its okay shaun, we can just get jay z to beat them up.

although bey could probs destroy them on her own tbh

Mitchell 25-04-2013 10:06 PM

:D dont forget Love On Top and Best Thing I Never Had xD

King Gizzard 25-04-2013 10:23 PM

Thought she'd be bigger than doing something for H&M, same as Beckham doing Sainsburys

james130 25-04-2013 10:29 PM

No denying she's talented as hell.
But she's such a narcissistic bitch. :idc:

Yeah, this is exactly it. She herself is iconic, her performance skills are iconic, but her actual material is really bland and totally not worthy of the person delivering it. I'm hoping her new album has something worthwhile on it but if the clip featured in that advert is anything to go by then I won't hold my breath.
