How does anything get proven from such a long time ago ? :conf:

This isn't too shocking when you think about that headline a while back about how many women he'd slept with. I'm not even shocked by these revelations anymore.

Cherie 01-05-2013 10:16 AM

Oh no more angst for Deirdre...her neck won't stand for much more.

Vanessa 01-05-2013 10:17 AM

It's terrible news. :(

I know, seems like ever since the whole Jimmy Saville thing, every second male TV star is getting accused of some sort of sexual abuse

They should wait to name them until after they've been charged. What if they're innocent? Like when it happened to Craig Charles? :(

Because it's salacious gossip and some people enjoy reading about it and discussing it, whether or not charges have been brought. Otherwise, why did you post the link?

Nedusa 01-05-2013 10:33 AM

Vanessa 01-05-2013 10:34 AM

A 15 yr old girl in 1967? So she must be in her 60's now. Strange for her to wait so long to bring up these charges. If its true then he must go to jail. 'One strike and you're out'...as some have said.

Perhaps they could come up with a similar storyline in Coronation St for him and the TV storyline outcome could mirror the real life outcome of his trial.......How weird would that be !!!

Maybe she decided to come forward following his comments about women "asking for it". Of course he should go to jail if he is guilty, where else should he go? the Bahamas?, however I doubt there will be enough evidence after this length of time if she is telling the truth.

I don't understand the sarcasm in your post. Do I at any point try to defend him? Where else could she go? The Bahamas? Was there any need for that? Why didn't you put something like...Maybe she did come forward but was ignored. I'm just making a point here but if you want to start getting sarky and snipey then lets go for it.

I guess without knowing all of the facts it's hard to speculate too much on it, it does seem to be a long time in coming if it happened back in 1967. I wonder though, that since all of these allegations about TV stars are coming out all of a sudden, is it that the Police are revisiting claims that were made about these people a longtime ago that may not have been dealt with properly at the time?

Nedusa 01-05-2013 11:56 AM

All aging male TV/Film/Music stars in their 60's,70's or 80's should be very worried. If you ever went to a party when you first found fame and you were in your 20's and then were kissed by or kissed a young girl that you thought was 17 or 18 then watch out. In fact the Police are already on their way, as that girl was actually 14 or 15 and now in her 60's she has now suddenly remembered that most traumatic of experiences.

She now needs medical and professional help to come to terms with the pain and trauma of that experience. and of course the perpertrator must but brought to justice

Unless of course.....he can settle out of court !!!!!

Ammi 01-05-2013 11:59 AM

..what I don't understand is if this was all so prevalent in the 60/70s..and maybe it was 'swept under the carpet' more then or people were deterred from pursuing it for whatever the reasons...then should there now not be more cases coming to light about ordinary people and not just well known people..

I would guess as they were investigating far more thoroughly the Jimmy Saville affair, then clearly during all those investigations other names have been mentioned as to 'inappropriate' conduct in the far past too.

I am mystified at the costs all this must be incurring and I also think for a great many who have had allegations made against them, either no charges will occur or they will be found not guilty, should they dispute them.
After the Rolf Harris allegations and that is all that they are at this stage anyway, nothing now surprises me as to these investigations anymore.

If people have genuinely been abused then it is right that they get some justice, how to prove anything took place with only the word of another against the accused after so long is something I fail to see great success for though.
Anyone who may though, have just jumped on the bandwagon, as to the Jimmy Saville alleged abuses, then if the celebrity is found not guilty then I really hope those making false allegations will get the book thrown at them.

I honestly don't know what to think myself as to this now, however as more come forward,I find my doubts are increasing rather then decreasing.
I now wait for Philip Schofield on This Morning grabbing this alleged incident as to William Roache after his going after him on Roache's recent comments.

I also agree, the time has come for this to be done more discreetly now too by the Police, only when actually charged should anyone be plastered over the papers and really I would prefer it to be when they were actually found guilty after trial too.

I would also like to see anyone, who has made maybe made serious false and unsubstantiated allegations, have their names and pictures all over the papers too as a warning to all others.
