1 tivo box - is lush you can go on youtube on it

Kazanne 27-05-2013 05:33 PM

The only help I could offer is to get rid of them pronto,Sky is far superior in my experience.

AnnieK 27-05-2013 05:38 PM

First thing Peter...when you ring go through to the cancellation department rather than renewals, they will get you a fear better deal if they think you are going to cancel. The second thing, just make sure you clarify everything with them...they will offer you really good things but for a limited period which they kind of add as aside....check and double check but make sure you speak to cancellations. I would go with sky but their broadband is awful for some reason round here...

Vanessa 27-05-2013 05:42 PM

I have Virgin and i pay around 40/45 £ a month. The broadband is excellent and the channels varied and interesting. I love it.

Shaun 27-05-2013 05:45 PM

My mum's bill is ridiculous with Virgin, she pays sometimes £120 a month :conf2:

We have two boxes (one in my bedroom, one in the living room), the XL broadband, and we get the movies and sports channels too, but I don't really see why that adds up to that much... we paid half that in the first six months. Hook line and sinker, I guess.

It sounds like too much. My bill has never been that high. :suspect:

Yeah they did similar to me Shaun....That's why I said check and clarify, when they are trying to get or keep your business they are great, after that is when the problems start...they blame sky too as they have to charge premium rates for the sky based channels (or that's what they tried to fob me off with)

Shaun 27-05-2013 05:49 PM

I know, this month's is £140 because my brother got a PayPerView thing (something to do with wrestling)... but it's ridiculous. I keep telling her to phone them up and cancel something (we never really use the movies because it's just loads of repeats, and I keep trying to teach my brother to just download WWE events or stream them ) but she seems confused about it all. I'm going back home at the end of the week so will try and get it sorted

Shaun 27-05-2013 05:50 PM

and the Sky thing is a silly argument, the only Sky channel I'm remotely interested in is Sky Atlantic and they don't even have that :bored:

Have you asked for a Tivo box?

If they say no
it means they are waiting for more boxes

If you get a tivo - you keep your current box as well free.

Do you know what? Im quite happy really, never seem to have a problem but ive never ever had sky something to do with rupert murdoch and his ****ty ways of trying to mopolise the tv market and trying to buy united.

Always had cable. First bell cable media then virgin

For a similar deal what could sky offer me?

When we were with virgin our bills always seemed very high.

Then one month one came in for over £200..which was just impossible. We asked for an itemised bill to show exactly how we owed that much. They said they couldnt send that until the account was cleared..so basically pay up then we will tell you how you owe this impossible bill. Yeah right. We went to o2 the next day and still havent paid the virgin bill (nor found out how the bill was that high)

if your happy with Virgin Peter that's fine,I have never rated them,as for SKY they have some great deals and their variety of programs and movies are far better imo than any others.

We've been with Virgin Media since it was Comcast, never a problem and the bill has always been fine.

Like someone else suggested I'd ring the cancellations before renewals :)

Me too. My bill is more or less the same every month.

Josy 27-05-2013 07:33 PM

Basically just ring and ask like others have said.

You pay over a 100 quid and don't get sky atlantic?

My sky bill is £100 a month + call charges, we get the movies, sports and everything else but we only get one box, then we get the internet but it's not broadband because we are outwith any network area (booooooooo)

Suze 27-05-2013 07:41 PM

I'm with Sky TV, but Virgin for my Phone and broadband. There are so many repeats now on TV, and the Licence is so expensive on top of that, I decided just to have the skysat, so cancelled, but a day or so before it was due to take place, Sky phoned me and offered me a deal, I said no, then they said well how about 6 months free TV giving you time to reconsider, I said OK. So it seemed it pays to cancel, because they want your custom.

I am not saying you should consider cancelling, Peter, but maybe just push them into a better deal.

Petershaw1984 30-05-2013 03:52 PM

Just got off the phone to a young lady at virgin who offered me the following.

1 tivo box
1v+box
Xl tv pack
Free weekend calls
20 meg broadband
For the lovely price of £71.34 pm.
I told her bt offered me better Internet and sky had offered me 2 sky + boxes and both deals would come to £65.pm.
After offering me alsorts of deals that werent very good, I told her I was happy to join sky and bt as they could offer me free bt sports and sky atlantic
She came back with a better offer of the following
1 tivo box (1 terabyte)
2 v+ boxes
Xl tv pack
60 mg broadband
Superhub 2
200 cross network minutes and free weekend calls with free installation and free hire of everything for the lovely price of £70 pm. So ive signed a new contract witg virgin for 12 months

She also tpld me that they are having discussions with bt about bt sports and said they are going well and when virgin do get it, they will charge xl customers £5 pm and none xl customers £10 pm.
