Big Brother: Viewer-controlled mole going into the house

Big Brother will be sending a professional actor into this year's series and they will be entirely under the control of viewers, Digital Spy has learnt.

Sources say that as part of this year's 'Secrets and Lies' theme, the male housemate will work as a 'mole' for Big Brother and be challenged to complete trouble-making tasks voted for by fans.

The concept is similar to the 'America's Player' twist used in previous seasons of Big Brother USA, in which viewers could select housemates for the 'mole' to nominate, pull pranks on and spin lies to.

The UK show has regularly seen contestants work for Big Brother - most notably Makosi Musambasi as BB6's 'Unlucky 13th housemate' and Mario Mugan, who entered BB11 wearing a mole costume. However, this will be the first time that instructions have come from viewers.

Male twins, secret relatives and a friend of Tulisa Contostavlos have also been tipped to enter this year's Big Brother.

Bit on the Side host Rylan Clark has told Digital Spy that this year's 'Secrets and Lies' twist could "make or break people".

Big Brother 14 will launch tonight (June 13) at 9pm on Channel 5, with more contestants joining the original housemates in tomorrow's (June 14) second live show airing at the same time.

We've been there and done that before though.

It might be the first time they have trusted the public with select twists, but, the public can't be trusted to keep the right housemates in, nevermind decide on twists.

I agree. I hope this a load of BS.

Ugh.

I don't want to see an entire series of arguing and fighting either, yeah some is ok but when it drags on and on and everyone has fallen out/won't speak to each other or even worse, crying and saying they want to leave blah blah blah, thats just **** IMO

Marsh. 13-06-2013 01:51 PM

It could be good if it's done right.

I'm guessing that any nominations against the mole will be discounted so they can survive or is this a 1 week thing?

Jack_ 13-06-2013 01:51 PM

I haven't read it...but two questions:

1) Is it believable/reliable source?
2) Is it sh*t?

ThisIsNickkk 13-06-2013 01:52 PM

What's the obsession with these types of twists as well..

The whole ear-piece thing on launch nights got on my nerves last year.

Not sure how well this will work. Seems a bit of a lame twist.

ThisIsNickkk 13-06-2013 01:56 PM

This whole mole thing just run its course now in one sense.

If Channel 5 can pull it off, then it could be entertaining, but if it's just pointless stuff, then don't even bother

Which series was it when BB put fake newspaper clippings on one side of one of the mirrors that said there was a mole in the house? The housemates went bananas over it, but won't the housemates expect something like this these days?

Black Dagger 13-06-2013 01:56 PM

no thanks

If they pull it off then it could work. I think some house mates could be used to this now especially when they are called to the diary room often. They need to find a way to make it not look obvious to the others perhaps a head of house could work as his den where he can receive orders over a phone. That way the house mates would know where he was and would just expect him to be head of house as a rouse. :)

The only thing that sucks is that it's an actor not a genuine housemate. It'll be good to see them cause some trouble though.

BigBrotherfan4ever 13-06-2013 02:14 PM

Sounds like a good twist , but hope BB can't pull it off & it works well(that I'm not sure of ...tbh).
