Is this the most money grabbing week in the history of BB?

So not only did we have to nominate people for eviction ourselves (a negative vote), we're now going to have to partake in more negative voting (that doesn't even make sense...why didn't they just do one big vote to evict to start with) and then the lines are going to be frozen on Wednesday so it turns into a head-to-head meaning even more money is made when a surge of votes come in as is what always happens with head-to-heads, especially under an evict vote.

I'm appalled.

JohnnyBB 17-06-2013 11:59 PM

I dont care if they need more money from the votes to make bb viable on the channel then they can scam as much as they need haha.

Jarvio 18-06-2013 12:01 AM

What's this freezing the vote on wednesday all about? Can someone explain this to me?

They want to make more money out of the voting. :)

Jordan. 18-06-2013 12:03 AM

They'll be getting 0p from me all series

Marsh. 18-06-2013 12:03 AM

Pausing the vote on Wednesday is barely different to just leaving the vote open until Friday. What difference does it make money wise?

No one's forcing you to vote at all, let alone more than once.

Well if in the process it means they are actually going to be making the show less appealing and interesting to viewers, it's not really going to matter.

The person with the least evict votes will be saved on Wednesday, then it turns into a head-to-head. And those have always generated the most profit because fans of both sides surge to vote for the housemate that isn't their favourite. So instead of it being a three-way till Friday, they'll have made money by people trying to ensure their favourite is saved on Wednesday by having to vote for TWO people that isn't their favourite, and then if that fails they will have to put in a tremendous effort to try and evict their favourite's opponent in a head to head.

God forbid a business needs to make money.

Marsh. 18-06-2013 12:05 AM

The flaw in your argument is no one HAS to do anything. No one has to put a huge effort into voting to save TWO out of three and then voting in the head to head.

You can also either vote once or not at all. If you can't control yourself then that's your problem.

Fools and their money are soon parted.

Yeah, at the expense of making the show less interesting...so it'll be pointless in the end.

Vote to save generates enough profit, a vote to evict fine...but freezing the lines midweek...seriously?

Well I'm quite aware of that, but seeing as the only way to affect any decisions in this show is to vote and to keep your favourites in, I don't think they've done this thinking 'well no one's going to bother voting anyway', this will provoke people into voting more...that's my point.

reece(: 18-06-2013 12:08 AM

They'll probably start doing it every week.

I read the T&C's earlier and I'm pretty sure that's what it alludes to. Awful.

Fans ask for three nominees and a vote to save...they give us three nominees, a vote to evict and a midweek freeze. Great move

Jarvio 18-06-2013 12:09 AM

Thanks to all who explained it. I just hope Dexter goes but I don't think he will

Mrluvaluva 18-06-2013 12:11 AM

Therefore Dexter will be safe and it will be Sallie vs Gina. The whole voting thing is a bit ridiculous though this week. If it doesn't change I can see Five coming under a lot of criticism over the whole thing.

I didn't suggest they did, but you're suggesting that any fan has to vote twice, once in the three way and once in the head to head.

Votes are carried over are they not?

And so what if they want to entice more voters midweek. They wouldn't be very good at their job if they didn't.

CaudleHalbard 18-06-2013 12:13 AM

The more votes held the more money the show is likely to make. The two who survive Wednesday are likely to get further voting.

And this is why it's deliberate

They know Sallie/Gina fans will try to vote for Dexter to save the girls

That will inevitably fail because some will still vote for the other girl and casual viewers that don't have a clue will too

Then once they've made enough money from tactical voting there, the head-to-head starts and seeing as it's so closely fought between the two girls they're going to generate a tonne of profit from fans of one trying to get the other out, as with Marcus VS Noirin, Freddie VS Marcus etc etc. It's so transparent that I can't believe they've made it this obvious.

Jords 18-06-2013 12:15 AM

Maybe.. but not from me :D

Marsh. 18-06-2013 12:15 AM

Well if the Gina/Sallie fans are as rabid as you say then there's no way Dexter will be safe on Wednesday?

Your theory is a bit contradictory in that regard.

And, AFAIK votes from the three way will be carried over to the head to head, so if the front runner is far ahead then it won't make much difference at all.

They will try to be, campaigns are always started and I imagine some come close, but there will still be fans of Gina and Sallie that see fit to evict the other one, they can't think logically. And of course casual viewers will be voting for one of the girls too, so I'm pretty sure it'll fail.

Well then in that case, regardless of the vote freeze on Wednesday one of the girls will leave. I'm not sure how channel 5 can be blamed for that when it was the public who nominated these people in the first place.

Money wise, personally I don't see much difference with or without the freeze. They wouldn't be doing their job if they didn't entice viewers to vote. If someone is a manic voter who likes to rabidly support a housemate they'll do it regardless.
